So many in our world drift into sleep,
While others only know a darkness without end.
Let brothers rise to call them from the deep,
Let sisters take their hands
To heal and be their friends.
Together, let us stand against the storm
And in the heart of night be the watchers of the morn.
The light of the world, the salt of the earth
We shine before the world when Love becomes our way
The light of the world, Christ is our light.
We shine with his brightness,
The reflection of his light from day to day.
--World Youth Day Hymn of 2002
He lived what he taught, may we dare to follow.

This has been a sad week. Yes, it has.
If you missed it, and want a pick me up, see post #671 or #672.

One thing I know for sure . . Our beloved Pope will continue to intercede for us here on earth. Now I will pray to him as he joins the rest of the saints in heaven.

As a kid, many many moons ago, in Catholic school, to me Saints were people who lived hundreds of years ago.
How honored I feel that I had the opportunity to have shared this Earth with at least two Saints, Mother Theresa, and Pope John Paul II.

Congratulations, AK2KX, that's a huge step. Pomp and circumstances, and rituals notwithstanding, I find the Catholic church a warm and welcoming place to worship.

The good old days...They ( the days, and the men... ) passed too quickly, didn't they?
( ...and just like my 94-year-old Dad used to note, as you grow older, the passage of time accelerates, until a year passes like a week... yeow! )

God bless the Pope, may he now rest in peace with our Father. The world was fortunate to have such a tireless servant of God give so much of himself to Mankind. Pope John Paul II was a blessed man and I am saddened at his passing as millions of others are, but we can take heart in his spirit and good will that he so freely gave us all.

May he rest in peace.

To: MeekOneGOP
Thank you for the ping. I've been out of town for several days and had no access to news.
Pope John Paul II took bold steps in declaring God's moral will in life issues and family issues. I pray the Lord richly blesses him in heaven for his obedience.
