Thank You!
Pope John Paul 1st....The Pope who immediately preceded John Paul 2nd and who was honored when he took his same papal name.
"The joy there must be in heaven this hour as God welcomes John Paul II home."
Amen.
I concur. I think it shows what a great leader he was that non-Catholics mourn his loss too.
I forget. How long did John Paul I serve, and why did he die?
Feeling like a very moronic Catholic right now but, what is the tradition behind the Papal name change???
He was the bridge-builder (pontifex) and universal pastor of all Christians.
We did not deserve him. When will we see his like again?
Former president of Poland Lech Walesa prays for the health of Pope John Paul II in his parish church in Gdansk, northern Poland, Saturday April 2, 2005.
Thank you! When we first heard that story I expected to see a photo of the Pope flying down the slopes with his robes flying! If I remember correctly he was in ski togs. That was when I first realized he had such an endearing quality, that he enjoyed the ordinary pleasures we all do and that he could closely relate to men, women and children everywhere. He wasn't a powerful official removed from reality, he truly loved everyone. His beautiful soul shone in his face and while I am not Catholic, I am proud to be somehow linked thru my Polish ancestry. He was a great man.
You bet!
"...and why did he die?"
Um, going out on a limb here.... God's will?? :) Just kidding, did you mean, how?
Thank you. I was inspired be the man, himself.
Hey, no problem!! Didn't do darn thing though... still a picture posting idiot.... :) But TBB, I promise, I'm going to perfect it...
Must we politicize the passing of the great and holy man! This is disgusting.
I'm not Catholic either and you have said it so eloquently!
