Apparently, things have gotten so bad in Zimbabwe following their recent elections that some are praying for the death of Robert Mugabe.
From what I've read, I really can't blame them.

They're finally learning that stolen farmlands don't spontaneously produce market-ready crops.
Bread doesn't grow on grocery shelves, and gasoline doesn't flow from underground rivers.

This is not something an Archbishop should be indulging in. Aren't Christians enjoined to return good for evil?
I agree.
I've also wondered why no one has taken a potshot at Mugabe.
He must be very reclusive or the opposition is so focused on staying alive that they haven't the time to consider an assassination plot.
Should they be praying for Mugabe to have a long life?

There's nothing wrong with praying for the hand of God to remove an evil and corrupt leader such as Mugabe. He is a vile creature, and the people of Zimbabwe are to be pitied.

I think you know better than you are letting on. It is one of the most basic tenets of Christianity that evil should be repayed with good. For an Archbishop or any Christian to suggest anything else is wrong.
Romans 12:17: But times and rules change; Just as God later sent his Son Jesus to demonstrate repaying love for evil--until your final breath--is the proper response, we are now to emulate that response to ALL evil that comes our way

God does not say repay evil with good, He says to forgive evil. He also says that will heap coals of judgement on those who persicute you, when you repay their evil with good. He also says to confront evil, and when the soldier came to Him as asked Him what do I do, Jesus said "be a good soldier". Jesus did not say put down your sword. A soldiers job is to kill evil.
It is most important to be in the spirit when dealing with evil, one must know when turning the other cheek will bring healing, and when killing the evil will bring the most good.
Rough job for evil, they do not have a free ticket as they think.
Pray that he turns from evil to the Lord and repairs the harm he has caused.
Robert Mugabe is a piece of human garbage who daily puts the "n" in the "n" word. He should be unceremoniously shot in the head, dumped into a hole, covered with lime, and entombed in dirt without a marker or words. Let him be only remembered as a blight on humanity, a racist pig, and defective unit of the highest order. I find nothing morally repugnant regarding the above because seeing evil and do nothing is to be complicit in it. Cheek turning sounds great on paper.
