It seems to me that the msm has stepped up the lies lately. I in no way can even stand to watch the evening news anymore. I very rarely watched it before so maybe it is still the same. Nonetheless I suspect they are losing their grip and have stepped up the slanted view with lies.

I agree. But it always is more complicated. But the sight of that mother with her daughter smiling at her just gets burned in one's brain. This did not have to end this way, it really didn't.

Now where was the barf alert?

In the the title.

I thought Chris Matthews and barf alert were synonymous.

I'm not agreeing with Chris Matthews, but this whole episode is not nearly as simple as either side wants to make it.

What are you tying to say? That Mr. Schindler had his own agenda? Even if we assume that both sides wanted Terri's settlement money, (a heinous lie), all we had to do was let the Schindler family have one year to care for Terri. Give them the money to care for her, let them get tests, treatment, etc, before pulling the plug.

Matthews comment is both false and MOST insensitive. Where is his compassion?

Just saw this on MRC site for April Fool's Day. This is a CBS type piece - FAKE but accurate: ____________________________________________________________

MSNBC’s Matthews Offended By Words He Put In Guest’s Mouth

Host Chris Matthews: “Michelle Malkin, you were just saying that Michael Schiavo, the husband of Terri Schiavo, is wrong to want to pull the plug on his wife. Why?”

Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin: “Chris, I don’t think we can be absolutely certain about what his wife, what Terri would have wanted.”

Matthews: “Do you think he’s a murderer?”

Malkin: “What? No, Chris let me make my point – ”

Matthews: “You do, don’t you!? Now, I want you to be clear now. You’re alleging that Michael Schiavo walked in one night oh so many years ago and took a pillow to Terri, aren’t you?”

Malkin: “No, what? I never said – ”

Matthews: “How can you come on this program and make such an allegation? Were you in the room when this attempted murder took place?”

Malkin: “Chris, you’re putting words in my mouth.”

Matthews: “What gives you the right to drum up this fantasy? It’s something out of an Agatha Christie movie!”

Malkin: “What? I didn’t say that at all. Chris let me talk!”

Matthews: “No, Michelle, I want you to be clear. Are you calling Michael Schiavo a murderer, yes or no?!”

Malkin: “I just wanted to make a general point about the way euthanasia is viewed by some members of – ”

Matthews: “Yes or no, Michelle?! Did Michael Schiavo have a hit taken out on his wife?”

Malkin: “Chris let me – ”

Matthews: “Unbelievable. You’ve turned this poor husband into a Scott Peterson! I can’t believe you’d come on this program and make these charges with absolutely no proof. Okay, we’ll be back in a minute, and we’re gonna try and keep it clean from here on out. Sheesh. You’re watching Hardball.”

— Exchange on MSNBC’s Hardball, April 1. FAKE but accurate

As a Catholic, it sickens me that Chris Matthews, like John Kerry claims to be so also, to a national audience.

I knew loudmouths like Matthews when I was going to school in Philly. He reminds me so much of that of that schoolyard punk who never could keep his machine gun mouth shut.

Me too - in Jersey. They would mouth off and then run like hell if you challenged them. And, they typically didnt have many friends. Matthews definitely fits this description. If Olbergirl was not on MSLSD, Matthews would have the distinction of having the lowest rated show there.

Why wouldn't Matthews be indifferent to Terri's plight? He doesn't seem to like young women (except, maybe, the icy Nora O'Donnell). He interrupts, berates and bullies women guests (like Miss Malkin)all the time. I noticed this pattern years before the Schiavo case.

I think in his heart of hearts, he knows this and has a hard time reconciling his career with his beliefs.

That would explain the perpetual sneering and anger.

It IS simple! When there are questions, one errs on the side of LIFE! FULL STOP!!

So no doubt you would condemn that Marine who shot the apparently unarmed Iraqi. After all, there were certainly questions, right? And you would want him to err on the side of life, right?

Your statement, taken to its logical conclusion, would mean that you never support wars. No matter how hard we try, innocent people die in wars. And if we are to "err on the side of LIFE! FULL STOP!!", then how can we countenance those deaths?

I know you folks desperately want this to be an open and shut case. But it's not. There are knotty ethical and moral questions involved that human history has not equipped us to easily answer.

As I said in the beginning, it's just as simple as either side wants it to be. (And for the record, I think the leftist "dignity of death" folks are being just as pig-headed about it.)
