TV ads warn of Iran nuke attack
WorldNetDaily ^ | April 1, 2005

The newly formed Iran Freedom Foundation has launched two television commercials warning that American cities are vulnerable to attack by an improvised nuclear device detonated by Iranian-backed terrorists.

Titled "An Atomic 9-11: When Evil is Appeased," the spots are based on a scenario described in the new WND Books release "Atomic Iran: How the Terrorist Regime Bought the Bomb and American Politicians", by Jerome R. Corsi, co-author of the best-selling "Unfit for Command."

The ads can be viewed on the IFF website.

Corsi believes an atomic 9-11 is an imminent threat once a terrorist state like Iran has the capability to develop nuclear weapons.

"The major technical problems that have kept terrorists from exploding improvised nuclear devices within American cities are solved once a terrorist regime like the Islamic Republic of Iran has the capability to manufacture a nuclear weapon and deliver it in containers to a major U.S. port," he said.

"The device can be picked up by sleeper terrorist cells, assembled, and driven into the heart of the city, where it can be detonated at the height of an ordinary business day."

The resulting destruction from a successful atomic 9-11 attack on a major U.S. city like New York would be enormous.

"In the blink of an eye, the United States could be reduced to second-class economic status," Corsi said.

The scenario described in "Atomic Iran" shows that a 150-kiloton IND exploded in New York would reduce much of the city to rubble. Some 1.5 million people would be killed instantly, with another 1.5 million certain to die over the next few days.

The television commercials, while shocking, were produced for more than their scare value.

"I wrote 'Atomic Iran' and founded the Iran Freedom Foundation to warn America of the approaching danger, in the hope that the catastrophes described in the book can be avoided if we are alerted in advance to the threat," he said.

The commercials currently are not scheduled for broadcast. The IFF hopes the availability for free viewing over the Internet will generate sufficient donations to begin buying air time.

The IFF, established in January, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., as a 501(c)(3) foundation with the ability to accept donations on a favorable tax basis once the IRS issues a tax status determination.

The IFF commercials also contain a clip of Sen. John Kerry's statement in the first debate of the 2005 presidential campaign, favoring the United States giving nuclear fuel to Iran for peaceful purposes.

In "Atomic Iran," Corsi criticizes four Democratic senators – Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Joseph Biden and Hillary Clinton – for accepting campaign donations from the pro-mullah lobby in the U.S.

"The Democrats just don't seem to get it," Corsi argues. "President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright started this ridiculous policy by giving nuclear fuel to North Korea for peaceful purposes. Then Kim Jong-Il turned right around and made nuclear weapons out of the fuel. The Democrats are about to make the same mistake again, but they don' seem to have any problem taking campaign contributions from the mullahs' friends in America."

The IFF has begun working with Sens. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., and Sam Brownback, R-Kan., as well as Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, to produce legislation that will support the opposition movements within Iran.

"We have an action plan described on our website to reach across in solidarity to the freedom advocates within Iran," explained IFF president and CEO Bijan Sepasy, an Iranian-American born in Iran and naturalized as a U.S citizen.

"We plan to use radio, television, and the Internet to communicate our support of peaceful change and freedom in Iran," he said.

The IFF has called for demonstrations of solidarity in the United States prior to the June 17 elections in Iran.

"If thousands of Iranians came to the streets in protest on June 17, the repressive theocracy could fall," Sepasy said. "Look at the impact of the recent demonstrations in Lebanon. The freedom movement is taking hold throughout the Middle East. Why not also in Iran?"

Most people simply cannot get their heads around the fact that this is a "when" event, not an event we can prevent.

We've entered the silly season again in America where we are more concerned with Michael Jackson and Martha Stewart than with national security, although I doubt the people charged with guarding us have fallen prey to this tendency.

Thanks for the ping and it will be interesting to see how this plays out over time. I had long thought that Israel would take care of the problem before it even got this far.

Terrifying possibility

However, only the rank and file Muslims want to die....There hasn't been a single Mullah, Iman or other "leader" who has sacrificed himself to murder others.

Therefore, the answer to this threat is to let the Iranian leadership know that if we are nuked, their entire country will be reduced to glass.

That's not entirely the case.

No mullahs, no nukes.

"The Democrats just don't seem to get it."

What else would you expect from the party of fools and sociopaths? The morons who make up most of the Democrat Party are incapable of understanding what's going on. The sociopaths who lead them don't care, as long as they can work it to their advantage.

From the article:

"In the blink of an eye, the United States could be reduced to second-class economic status," Corsi said.

He's wrong: the whole world will be reduced to economic chaos because it would also destroy much of the export market to the USA at the same time. Even with strained relations with Old Europe nowadsays, the largest export market for France and Germany is still the USA.

But yet, Americans will likely recover within a few years' time. Due to the resiliance of its citizenry and the fact knocking out New York City would have very little impact on the physical transportation and communications infrastructure of the country, we can rebuild and be up and going pretty quickly.

"That's not entirely the case. No mullahs, no nukes"

ALL Efforts should be behind getting rid of the regime.

The nukes aren't the problem. It's the people in charge who are.

Thing I don't get is how Iran could ever think they could get away with it. We talk about 'fngerprintless' attacks, but the Mullahs would have to be suicidally insane to think our intelligence services wouldn't track the source of the bomb. Just cos we wouldn't be able to track a missile on a radar doesn't mean we wouldn't be able to find out where it came from. Then Iran can kiss its ass goodbye. Using terrorists would be no guarantee of escaping retaliation. So aren't they deterred?
