In his interview with the reverend, this lifelong musician made this memorable statement: "I loved the album that Tchaikovsky did the 'Nutcracker Suite.' It's an album where every song is a great song." I did not actually hear this interview, but I wonder. Did the reverend and the King of Pop then commence to sing a few ditties from the "Nutcracker"? Did they mention any other albums by this guy Tchaikovsky?
I DID NOT ACTUALLY HEAR THIS INTERVIEW, BUT?
Not much to say about someone else's "stupidity" after making that statement in an internationally read column!
My nine year old saw a picture (a particularly horrid one) the other day on the net and said who is that? I told her and she said (I KID YOU NOT) "I thought Michael Jackson was black." She could not understand why I was laughing so hard, so I showed her some old photo's of him as a child and a young adult. Pre-mutilation of course.
That night, she came into my room about 2 am (again, I KID YOU NOT) and was crying. She had a nightmare that Michael Jackson's face was in her closet and his nose fell off (we stumbled on a photo of his half fallen off nose in the courtroom) and was TERRIFIED of Michael Jackson and his floating face.
I comforted her and just giggled inside at the lunacy that the King of Pop's face terrified my kid.
"Thriller arrived in retail stores on December 1st, just in time for Christmas; by the year's end, it had sold more than one million units. January '83 saw the release of the album's second single, "Billie Jean." Within three weeks, the song captured the #1 R&B slot, and in just over a month topped the Pop chart as well. All hell was about to break loose."

"The man now called "the greatest entertainer in the world" had just sung the last note dazzled with the final "moonwalk" of a grueling, 16-month tour that had taken him almost around the world for 123 concerts in 15 countries that drew 4.4 million fans and grossed $ 125 million -- more than any other entertainer has ever grossed on a single tour."
"The concert frenzy boosted sales of Michael's Bad album to more than 20 million (his Thriller album has sold some 40 million world-wide, and is the biggest-selling album in history),"
