The trouble with Islam is that as long as people follow it they must revere Muhammad. It is when they revere and emulate Muhammad that trouble starts for the rest of us.
Some Moslems do view Muhammad and his teachings as poetic history instead of as a guidebook on how to live today, that is true. However, the Wahabbists, Iranian Ayatollahs, Taliban, and Al Qaeda are practicing a more pure Islam as it was practiced in the first 200 years. That is a simple fact verifiable by a simple reading of the Haddiths.
The only reform that would make Islam compatible with modern civilization would be to repudiate the first 200 years of Islamic history.
First of all, excellent tag line. Too funny. And I agree with you, that "the nature of Islam" is dangerous. I just think that once some Muslims open up to pluarlism, then their views will change and lead to the rejection of 90% of the Koran.

Schwartz (AKA Suleyman Ahmad) has gained quite the reputation as a disinformation specialist fronting for the Muhammedans. He was outspoken in his defense of the bombing of Christian Serbs on Easter Sunday in support of the "peaceful" narco-terrorists who were invading Kosovo.

'Moderate Islam' is like moderate cannabilism.
What? They only hate infidels and plan world domination on weekends?
Moderate Islam is an oxymoron.
I guess. I'm not doubting that he's genuine. It's possible to be genuine and insane. But don't put too much faith in this nut. Who knows what ideological identity he will adopt next. If you want credible people who criticize Islam, I suggest Ali Sina and Ibn Warraq.
