LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Terri Schiavo's ashes will be buried in an undisclosed location near Philadelphia so that her immediate family doesn't show up and turn the burial into a media spectacle, a member of the Schiavo family said Thursday.
``If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it,'' Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, said during an interview at his home.
After an autopsy, Michael Schiavo plans to have his wife's body cremated and her ashes brought to Pennsylvania, where she grew up. Scott Schiavo said the ashes would be buried in a plot left by an aunt and uncle, but the family does not plan on providing the specficic location for the burial - underscoring the bitterness of the dispute.
Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had fought for years to prevent her feeding tube from being removed, and they opposed cremation and wanted her buried in Florida.
Neither Terri Schiavo's parents nor her siblings addressed the issue of her burial in their remarks to reporters in Florida on Thursday. A spiritual adviser to her parents, Paul O'Donnell, said they plan to hold a Roman Catholic Mass without her body sometime next week.
Scott Schiavo said he received a stream of calls Thursday from people denouncing him. On his answering machine was a message from a man from Texas who called the Schiavo family murderers.
Police made visits Thursday to both Scott Schiavo's home and the home of his brother, William, in Philadelphia, as a result of threats to the families.
Scott Schiavo expressed relief that his sister-in-law's ordeal was over, and anger at those who have attacked the Schiavo family.
``This isn't over by a long shot, We're going to get our name right,'' he said. ``The world is going to know who Mike was, they're going to know Mike wasn't a beast.''
At Terri Schiavo's alma mater, Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, workers changed a sign that read ``Terri Schiavo, Class of 1981, We pray that you may live'' to ``We pray that you rest in peace.''
I can't shake the feeling that MS and all of the death cultists he's involved with are a Satanic cabal, performing a ritual sacrifice of some sort. Rosemary's baby or something, I don't know.
I see only evil in this entire affair.
Had he been a real husband to her and not a "hino", I'd agree.
But this isn't like normal sad events.
It's not too difficult to figure out what he's saying here. Mike's going to write a book.
I wouldn't ever ask her to explain that... There was no option for Mrs. Schindler that was less painful than any other.
To expect common decency from the other party after not showing any to them for seven years is a wee bit much.
We are human beings. We have our limits.
This whole mess pushed me to my limits, which is why I'm opusing out tomorrow.
The "Schiavo" name will go down in INFAMY!! It will be cursed for all time, and I don't care if the polls say 99% of America love him.
Whether his decision was right or wrong, he said/she said, whether their accusations were truth or untruth ...it has no real bearing on the matter at hand (the burial). The woman is dead. However, it is MHO, that Michael will be the most single HATED man in this country, ongoing, passed on to his children, dogged by his decisions, hated beyond belief by extremists, hounded by people who call themselves allies and enemies, detested by every member of Terri's family and every friend she ever had, shunned by members of society, it will affect his very livelihood, if he doesn't allow Terri's parents to know where they daughter is buried. It's bad enough he didn't allow them to be there when she died. It does not matter WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THEM. He will be HATED and SHUNNED for this. It won't matter what the parents did or do. This will eclipse it. And he will be detested. And not just by Christians. And not just by mothers. And not just by conservatives. And not just by republicans. But by job interviewers, real estate agents, neighbors, etc. If he had any sense, he'd change his mind. Because we all know, Terri certainly didn't want THIS.
I think Michael feels that he has the sympathy of the nation and he can do whatever he wants against the Schindlers.
Funny, I haven't run into anyone with any knowledge of this case who thinks he's that great.
I'm not suggesting they have to talk or sit in the same pew. However they are her parents for God's sake, and this is the last time they would even have to tolerate each other. I do not think it is at all unreasonable, even with the bad blood flowing, to allow this much - if Michael is so concerned about Terri's wishes, then he should realise it was unlikely that she wouldn't want her parents there.
Regards, Ivan
Both OJ & Robert Blake went to their wives funerals. No fights broke out. Terri deserves the presence of her parents. Poor, poor girl.
I would not suggest they attend the same service only that Mr. Schiavo let Terri's real family know where her remains will be interned so they can vist her over the years.
If someone gave his resume I'd torch it.
How can this monster continue to spit on Catholics, and on God, and continue to get away with it?!
We are. I'm not so sure about Michael. Someone better check his scalp for a '666'.
This pig just proved what an arrogant asshoe he is by denying the family a chance to visit Terri's resting place. He also showed his ignorance by throwing the family out of the room as Terri was dying. If there is justice in this world he will suffer the same as he made others suffer. This brother just can't get himself to call a scumbag by his name because he shares that name.
Man they come out of the woodwork.
I used to think that it was Michael posting under different names but there too many for that.
There used to be a song titled"It Takes all Kinds of People to Make The Jukebox Play".
That is about the best answer I can give youi.
