LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Terri Schiavo's ashes will be buried in an undisclosed location near Philadelphia so that her immediate family doesn't show up and turn the burial into a media spectacle, a member of the Schiavo family said Thursday.
``If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it,'' Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, said during an interview at his home.
After an autopsy, Michael Schiavo plans to have his wife's body cremated and her ashes brought to Pennsylvania, where she grew up. Scott Schiavo said the ashes would be buried in a plot left by an aunt and uncle, but the family does not plan on providing the specficic location for the burial - underscoring the bitterness of the dispute.
Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had fought for years to prevent her feeding tube from being removed, and they opposed cremation and wanted her buried in Florida.
Neither Terri Schiavo's parents nor her siblings addressed the issue of her burial in their remarks to reporters in Florida on Thursday. A spiritual adviser to her parents, Paul O'Donnell, said they plan to hold a Roman Catholic Mass without her body sometime next week.
Scott Schiavo said he received a stream of calls Thursday from people denouncing him. On his answering machine was a message from a man from Texas who called the Schiavo family murderers.
Police made visits Thursday to both Scott Schiavo's home and the home of his brother, William, in Philadelphia, as a result of threats to the families.
Scott Schiavo expressed relief that his sister-in-law's ordeal was over, and anger at those who have attacked the Schiavo family.
``This isn't over by a long shot, We're going to get our name right,'' he said. ``The world is going to know who Mike was, they're going to know Mike wasn't a beast.''
At Terri Schiavo's alma mater, Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, workers changed a sign that read ``Terri Schiavo, Class of 1981, We pray that you may live'' to ``We pray that you rest in peace.''
Past Tense - I heard a noise!
Present Tense - I can hear you.
Future Tense - I hope I can hear what he has to say.
LEO's need to be able to determine when someone is being deceptive or just uses bad grammar.
As he states in his book, "People's words will betray them."
Nooooooooo!
Such is the human condition.
I wouldn't want them at the burial either, because they would just turn it into a circus. They'd also use it as yet another fund-raising opportunity.
That it does, freekitty, that it does.
You probably won't realize it... but that doesn't really ~say~ anything. It's just one more of the wild accusations without the ~backup~ that used to be required to be taken seriously here.
Words cannot describe the loathing for this subhuman.
This is transparent posturing. It's a lot like OJ Simpson begging the public for information about who killed his wife.
Evil.
MS could have ended all this speculation at anytime by agreeing to a complete examination by an independant specialist -- he forbade that? Why? If you were accused of a heinous crime of which you were innocent, wouldn't you want the truth to be discovered at the earliest possible moment? And if you were guilty of that crime, wouldn't you want to make the evidence unavailable and destroyed as soon as possible? That doesn't prove MS was an abuser but he, himself, has IMHO, acted in complete consistency with the actions of a guilty man, and with no resemblance to the grieving, wronged party he claims to be ... is that proof: of course not! Is that mighty damn suspicious? You betcha!!!
speechless
Michael Schiavo is spawn of Satan.
Maybe because they disagreed with St. Michael about starving their daughter to death.
I'm sure this is about an upcoming book deal. I wonder what hino will do for a mouthpiece, as he will no longer have the excuse of being 'by Terri's side', any longer and can face the cameras himself? No PR firm in the world can make him, his brother, or the ghoul felos sound credible or likeable. What to do, to sell those books?
I'm glad she's not suffering anymore -notwithstanding the protestations of the 'pvs's don't mind being thristed to death, in fact the only thing they like better is an aneurism (sp?) crowd.'
Grrrr is exactly right!
So that when the movie comes out, there'll be a nice, touching scene (as the music rises to a crescendo) where the loving husband says goodbye to his beloved wife as she takes her last breath.
I truly hope any endeavours MS hopes to pursue to make a buck out of this well and truly FAILS.
The question is absurd.
If my inlaws had accused me of being a wife beater for seven years, and then I murdered their daughter, I would allow them to attend the funeral.
What ongoing feud? I only see shots coming from one direction in this "ongoing feud." It's easy to play the noble peacemaker if at first you fudge the facts...
