Bush's plunge in polls tied to domestic issues
Washington Times ^ | March 31, 2005 | Bill Sammon

Posted on 03/31/2005 8:05:52 AM PST by Juan Medén

President Bush's record-low approval ratings are a result primarily of public dissatisfaction with his handling of domestic issues that loom larger than foreign policy in his second term. On issues such as immigration and controlling federal spending, Americans disapprove of the president's approach by margins of at least 20 percent, according to Gallup. While they approve of his handling of terrorism by a similar margin, such foreign-policy issues have faded from the headlines in recent months.

Well I do doubt he's going to get elected again.

After all we pro-life Christians did to elect Bush, to see him turn and abdicate responsibility for this case was nothing short of a betrayal. Whatever political capital he won in the last election has been lost on this issue.

george bush can't get reelected. Jeb Bush could have been reelected but probably won't.

Somebody needs to poll me....I've not been polled. I suspect the poll has an agenda.

By the time I was ten years old, I had pretty much figured out that I don't always get what I want.

was not clinton in the 30's during his second term?

IS not the democrats in congres now in the 30's?

I suspect this is just more BS push polling trying to sow disention with the public. This is about as credible as a CBS affidavit.

I would disagree. We are still (today at least) able to disagree. I wish GW could have ridden in on a white horse and rescued Teri..I really believe he did everything that he could do (as per his advisers).

So, then, you're going to seriously consider voting for a Democrat for President, Senator, Governor, etc.?

I'll admit, that the brothers Bush did not have the stones that Ronald Reagan would have had in this case, but the alternative is MUCH worse. Right now, Bush's lowered ratings reflect some disillusionment among the voters in his base, but hopefully, they'll wipe their tears and get back on board in time for the next election. "President" John Kerry would have been personally proud to have pulled Terri's feeding tube himself.

The democrats are just seing this terri situation as a way of scaring the public that christians are sccaaaaaaaary and eeeeeeevil. GASP! not conservatives they want to take lollipops from children!!!!!

Where was Dr. Dean? Is his medial opinion different from Frist?

Where was Kerry? Did he have a seeeeecret plan to save terri if he gets elected to Mr. Congeniality of the Senate?

Where was Hitlary? Did she have trouble remembering the adress to the senate?

Bush's plunge in polls tied to domestic issues

I realize this is an emotional issue but try to keep a clear head about it. Both Jeb and GW did all they could or should have done. This is one pro-life Christian who disagrees with your analysis.

"After all we pro-life Christians did to elect Bush, to see him turn and abdicate responsibility for this case was nothing short of a betrayal. Whatever political capital he won in the last election has been lost on this issue."

The role of social conservatives is to advance lifestyle libertarianism. The GOP will make no serious effort to check the Culture of Death, though we should recognize the heroic efforts of certain individuals.

I agree, too, that George Bush did everything he could - given the situation.

President Bush has done very well with his responsibilities, on the whole. He can't please everyone all the time.

And rather than disserting him over the Schiavo incident - and the border issue as well (although personally I don't understand his not securing the borders), we need to stand behind the President on the huge achievements he has accomplished.
