Correct, pollywog. The Legislatures of both the State of Florida and the United States both passed laws to help Terri, but the judiciary said, 'me no likey.'

So, everybody on here who is saying that the response to judicial tyranny is legislation is nuts.

Where we are right now in this country as shown by this case is that the Judiciary is the Supreme Authority for which there is apparently no remedy in either the legislative or the executive branches.

"It's certainly not natural to starve to death, when food is available, nor to die of dehydration when water is at hand."

This brings up an interesting point. A medical ethicist was on Fox. He commented that he personally knew the inventor of the feeding tube used to keep Terri alive. The development of it was his life's work and took nearly 30 years. He said the inventor would be very surprised that it would not be considered life support as it was a very complicated device to develop.

If a low-level judge has more power to take a life than the president and governor have to save a life, we have no constitutional rights.

Im not disagreeing with you about the judges but your previous statement about the President is peculiar.

I dont like debating about the different levels of govt and how they all relate with each other but I must say this statement is very reminicent of the Clinton days when it was "stroke of the pen, law of the land".

Im deeply saddened by Terri's court sanctioned death but I will not act as a hypocrite when I called Clinton names for what he did personally in cases he thought was important enough (Waco, Elian).

This is a major defeat for the executive and legislative branch against an out of control court system.

We dont have a King-like president who can abuse his presidential oath at will even if it is for the noblist of causes like Terri. He was handcuffed by our own "laws".

We can either all work together and get this reversed or bicker at each other like crazed lunatics. I would prefer we get something done rather than sound like a bunch of 5 yr old kids trying to find a scapegoat.

Without life, no other right is applicable. And this isn't throwing away our ideals. It is standing up for them - something the pubs failed miserably to do. Something you should think about, I stand up for my values, they didn't. I gave up my party membership when they disowned me. Now they've disowned and disenfranchised someone far less able to defend herself. Terri was truly helpless. They're all about defending their power, defending their profit motives and disenfranchising anyone who gets in the way of that. We have a culture of political system gaming that has relegated all of us to the role af an expendable Terri Schiavo on any given issue. Terri's case has layed that bare for all to see. I owe no allegiance to a party that represents itself instead of us.. instead of Terri.

This is a representative democratic republic and it is up to us, the people to fix what is wrong with our government.

In a representative democratic republic the President and the Legislature are elected to represent the will of the people. They did and it was overruled on the grounds that it was unConstitutional to do so. Judge Whittemore publicly chastized them on those grounds. That judicial defiance was met with utter silence from the WH and Capitol Hill while Terri still lived. That's not bashing that's a fact.

What, exactly would the bad guys win that they don't already have?

You see, the mentality of the GOP is this: We won, let's not use the power we were given.

I could have told you that when Arlen Spectre weaseled his way into the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee. He did it with a wink-and-nod from the entrenched politicians in Washington while the grassroots effort had to bear nearly the entire burden of campaigning against him in that role.

So, while we sing the praises of our majority Congress, we've accomplished nothing. We can't even keep partial birth abortion banned. Heck, we whimped out the marriage ammendment, too.

I just don't see how defending the ineffectual serves the conservative cause.

The Democrats, aided by their puppets in the mainstream press, are organizing a concerted campaign to shift the blame for killing Terri away from those responsible in the judiciary to the Bush brothers in a crass attempt to use Terri's death for their own political advantage. A lot of seemingly rational conservatives are being manipulated and falling for the Democrats' slick propaganda tactics.

Don't let them succeed.

That will make a beautiful campaign poster for Jeb's opponent if he runs again.

If properly done, it would have destroyed the ovens and possibly allowed many to escape. As it was the troops of the western allies were not even informed that the death camps existed, they were flabbergasted when they found them. Auschwitz was in Poland, so it may have been "liberated" by the Russians, I just don't remember.

The ovens were, at that time, virtually unknown outside of the camps. They were a state secret, and most even within the Nazi regime were unaware of their existence.

You are correct. Auschwitz was liberated by the Russians.

"The posters who are attacking the President and Jeb Bush remind me of the liberal whiners who expect the government to fix everything. This is a representative democratic republic and it is up to us, the people to fix what is wrong with our government. The fault is with the courts."

Eva, you're right on the money. I can't believe all these fellow Freepers coming out against the president and also bashing fellow freepers for sticking up for him.

I say that everyone should read MEN IN BLACK then speak your peace.

yet we are losing the very "Republic" for which we once stood all the while, not even incrementally anymore, but wholesale to the culture of death.

And your "solution" is to vote the party of death into power?

Look, they call us nazis in a slanderous way, psychologically projecting their own most abhorrent thoughts, feelings, and behaviors onto us in order not to have to face them.

We use the term nazi when we see people engaging in clear, precise ways that were and will be forever documented as part of the nazi party platform. The concept of "mercy killing" of the lebensunswertes leben is a nazi core principle that we have just seen acted out before our very eyes.

So don't give me this both sides are calling names crap. There is no moral equivalence.

What was wrong with post# 12?

It did not violate any posting rule that I know of, and summed up the Bushes' actions quite nicely.

Excactly, when the GOP was not ready to fight even that battle you knew we were in trouble. In fact, losing that small battle helps to lose the big battles. We've got to stop worrying about being liked, even stop worrying about our own future. Our Heavenly Father feeds the sparrows yet they neither sow nor reap, how much more will He take care of those who love Him. Do what's right, the Lord will take care of the rest, if not in this life then the next.
