NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE “DEEPLY SADDENED” BY THE DEATH OF TERRI SCHIAVO

National Right to Life joins with countless others worldwide in expressing sympathy to the Schindler family over the death of Terri Schiavo. Terri died of starvation and dehydration today, nearly 13 days after her feeding tube was removed under court order. The following statement may be attributed to Burke Balch, J.D., Director of the Robert Powell Center for Medical Ethics at the National Right to Life Committee:

“We are deeply saddened by Terri’s death and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Schindler family. Terri Schiavo’s death is a gross injustice and it marks a sad day in our history when our society allows Terri and others like her who have severe disabilities to be discarded in such a cruel and inhumane manner.

We must redouble our efforts to protect those with disabilities. We will continue working to ensure that they are not dismissed by some “quality of life” standard which dictates that some lives are less worthy than others.

No words can express what I'm feeling.

Our society has lost it's innocence with Terri's death.

We read all the time about a person taking away another person's life, but here the government took Terri's life away as callous as any murderer.

Terri has entered into Life on the day that the Anglican communion remembers Priest and poet John Donne:

"All mankind is one volume. When one man dies, one chapter is torn out of the book and translated into a better language. And every chapter must be so translated. God employs several translators. Some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice. But God's hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall lie open to another."

A BIRD IN A BARREN CAGE VERSE 1: Theresa Marie was a beautiful girl. with a smile that could light up the room. But now the plans of three evil men are rushing her towards her doom. Her cruel faithless husband now wants her dead-- Wants to marry another wife. Why can't he just see, Terri ought to be free. She and he could get on with life. It's clear Michael Schiavo, George Felos, and Judge Greer Are fighting with all their might Not because Terri won't speak up, But rather because she might. REPEAT CHORUS VERSE 3: So what shall become of Michael's bird? Will he starve her as he intends? Or will she be rescued by those far and wide, who'd be honored to be called her friends?
