Terri Schiavo, the brain-damaged Florida woman at the heart of a bitter legal dispute, has died, a spokesman for her parents has said. Mrs Schiavo's feeding tube was disconnected on 18 March, following a seven-year battle through the courts.
Her husband Michael Schiavo had said his wife would not have wanted to live in her current condition.
The 41-year-old's parents fought to the highest level of the US courts system to keep their daughter alive.

Timeline: Terri Schiavo case
Mrs Schiavo died at the Pinellas Park hospice where she lay for years while her husband and her parents fought over whether to keep her alive or not.
Her parents and their two other children were with her up to 15 minutes before she died.
A few minutes before she died, they were told to leave the room by Michael Schiavo, their spokesman said.
They were allowed back into the room after she died.
Father Frank Pavone, national director of the organisation Priests for Life, accused Mr Schiavo of "heartless cruelty".
"This is not only a death, this is a killing," he said. "We grieve that our nation has allowed such an atrocity as this."
Mrs Schiavo collapsed after her heart stopped beating temporarily in 1990.
Court-appointed doctors had said she was in a permanent vegetative state and would not recover, but her parents had said she could.
The case galvanised activists from both sides of the euthanasia debate.
Truly sad...something I will remember for the rest of my life...I pray this country does as well.
"Barf Alet" comes to mind.
It would be better to be his dog than his wife. He could not kill the dog by dehydration and starvation with out the SPCA and the government stepping in. But death of a wife by such abuse is accepted by our liberal government.
You were there?
have you been online long? there is a thread
A few minutes before she died, they were told to leave the room by Michael Schiavo, their spokesman said.
How nice of him to deprive them of those last few minutes.
May God have mercy on us.
Even Michael's rabid PVS-over-diagnoser, Dr.Ronald Cranford, said, in 1989, that Physician Assisted suicide is killing.
Brain-damaged Ted Kennedy lives.
i agre with you... that was murder in its purest form. but know terri is now with god and can look down and thank all those who supported her. god help her husband my feelings toward him are not so nice and god help me for feeling that way but i feel he commited murder.
On Fox just now Father Frank Pavone said Terri eyes would look over at him when he would pray with her...even this morning before she died.
brain damaged. they can't write her name without first always saying brain damaged.
Actually that day was January 22, 1973.
Brother Paul O'Donnell, a spokesman for Bob and Mary Schindler, Schiavo's parents, said they were with their daughter's body and praying.
The Schindlers and their other two children earlier requested permission to be with Schiavo during her last moments at a hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida. Police barred them from being with her, O'Donnell said.
O'Donnell, one of the family's spiritual advisers, said Schiavo's family was "begging to be at her bedside...but are being denied."

Sadistic beyond words.
Cordially,
Since Michael has claimed that Terri has no awareness of those around her, why was it so important to Michale that her birth family be kept away at the moment of her passing? Afterall, the benefit of comfort from loved ones at the moment of death is for the one dying. Using Michael's theory, it didn't matter who was there except for the opportunity to gouge the Schindler family one last time.
"Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy."
