"They [Terri's family] told police they would be willing to be in the room with Michael Schiavo," the priest said. "They are begging to go in and see Terri, to be with her during these last hours. They have placed calls to the attorney. They have pleaded with Michael."

I was remiss. I never thought they would actually get away with it. Not in America. Not in America. We don't murder our defenseless and helpless in this country. Not in America.
Christ's second-to-last words: "I am thirsty."
oh man, you can't be serious...
It is up to every personto decide what he or she is going to do. The Bushes decided that they should stay within the law. I respect that and I am not going to start criticizing them like everyone seems to be doing.
It is certainly man acting against God's commands. Man arrogating for man, a decision that rightfully belongs to God. There is no captial crime to justify the hastened demise of Terri Schiavo.
No argument there, about a tyrannical state judge... But our country is effectively being controlled by a tyranical judicial branch, period.
"ALL RISE"...up.
dying not "dieing" sorry!
I can't hold him responsible, as it's not for me to say that he should have acted in a particular way, especially if he thought he could not do so legally.
But he should never have announced he had the authority, and then failed to immediately use it.
If he would now do as you say, and remove some judges, and reform the laws, he would regain some moral authority in my eyes.
Thank you for your words Tonkin.
Jeb deserves rebuke.
He drew back from the right action. He became cowardly and craven; a toadie for the black-robed oligarchs.
You are one sick SOB!!!! Don't you have any compassion??? I hope this someday happens to one of your loved ones, preferably your child and then I'd like to see how you respond. Moron!!!!
The president, for one, said "millions of Americans are saddened" by Schiavo's death. The essence of civilization is that the strong have a duty to protect the weak, he added. In cases where there are serious doubts and questions, the presumption should be in favor of life.

I agree. I, too, now firmly oppose the death penalty. It cannot be trusted in the hands of a government like this.
Rewriting historical motives for Reagan will not make Bush look any better.
Bull. You had three senators voting in the Senate. Most of them were willing to go along because they wanted to stay on their vacations and they didnt know which way it would cut so they didnt want to go on record. Just over half of the House voted and about 2/3 of them voted for it. So you are talking about a minority who cared enough to come back from their vacation and vote. And for most part only Dem votes were from the black caucus.
