Soldiers that were severely wounded, lost limbs, but are going back to Iraq
Ping to Tammy Duckworth -- boy, she's amazing.
I saw it earlier today...what a woman!...and a great credit to the Illinois Guard....106th AVN...
Thanks for the heads up! I prayed for her when she was injured..Teary eyed.
People in their town are redoing their house for her..She wants to keep flying..What a woman..
Absolutely! What an inspiration she is. This is a fascinating interview.
I am so glad I saw this ..I could not have dreamed she would do so well though I heard she was one tough lady..Her husband was nice...Good reminder/incentive to contribute to Fisher house where they stay..

Especially interesting was her tale of the other pilot visiting her and not revealing his artificial leg until much later in their discussion. I can't feel self pity for my little daily woes after that! :o)
And the Fisher House looks like a very worthy cause for a donation.
Yes..they are lucky to have each other..I see many challenges ahead for her but if anyone can face them..I believe she can. Her appreciation for the 'peer' volunteers was evident.
Thank you to all who serve our country.

Can-do spirit rises from crash
I was so thrilled when I happened by C-span and there she was...I had prayed for her recovery. What an incredible spirit!
Some of the amputees she and her husband talked about (who visit our wounded at Walter Reed and Bethesda) are organized by a great guy, Vietnam Vet, former First Recon Marine named John Devine. I met John at the Kerry Lied Rally and have become a big fan of what he and his fellow disabled vets have been doing.
Very quickly...that same weekend Major Duckworth was wounded, CNN was to have shown a special segment on John's group. They had bent over backward over a number of weeks to accomodate CNN camera crews and to be interviewed, but at the last minute were informed their story had been cut way down to a slight mention. These guys were devastated and angry ... they really believed media bias played a role just as it does with the lack of reporting good news from Iraq.
So very glad C-span talked to the Major... what a true hero and example for us all. I watched in awe and admiration....
Thank you for that link.
