Here's that passage from Matthew 6:

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the HYPOCRITES are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Funny, you mouth (post) the words, using them to call others hypocrites, but you say you have no belief in them.

A bit hypocritical of you, yes? If those words are to be wholly believed on their face, then any who go to church or synagogue are found to be hypocrites in the eyes of God.

That is not what they meant. You read the words, but have no true understanding of them. Yes, I know your argument that you study them more than most, yada, yada, yada. You may study them all you wish. You understand them not.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet

Am I allowed to pray in church with hundreds of other people?

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the HYPOCRITES are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

30 Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come here to me." They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the LORD , which was in ruins.

36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: "O LORD , God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, O LORD , answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD , are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again."

38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, "The LORD -he is God! The LORD -he is God!"

There are other passages in the Bible concerning public prayer. Jesus was condemning the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and Scribes who "devour widows’ houses, and for appearances sake, offer long prayers."

Cordially
