A Tuesday L.A. Times article that appears replete with errors, omissions and unnamed sources has left Chico State University officials cringing.
The 1,450-word, in-depth piece on Chico's Greek system was a huge disappointment, said university President Paul Zingg Tuesday afternoon.
"I thought it was a poor piece of writing and research," he said of the article that appeared on the front of the California section of the newspaper.
Zingg is updated on articles related to Chico State, but was blindsided by the story and found it particularly odd that he was quoted. That's because he was never contacted by its author.

I didn't read the article but was Chico complaining that UCLA took the "Most alcohol consumed" first prize away from them?

I see the LA Times' shoddy, incomplete, non-factual reporting is affecting someone besides the usual conservative targets for a change.

Sloppy inaccurate reporting from the agenda driven MSN is as shocking as gambling in Cassablanca.

--> Freepers do a hell of a lot better at correcting the articles than those whom write for these big papers. I guess it goes to show, for MSM type news outlets, it's all about the ratings.

I would be shocked if an LA Times story *wasn't* replete with errors and omissions.
The story also reports that Chico State may be best known for its basketball team to those "beyond their college years." This again stumped officials.
??????
Chico is best known for its basketball teams??

"I thought it was a poor piece of writing and research..."Nothing unusual about that, after all this is the LA Times (LA Bird Cage Liner).

anyone have a link to the original story? I couldn't find it. I'd like to compare this and potentially document it elsewhere.

Inaccurate? Poorly researched? Errors? No, it couldn't be.
