"""Reagan would have seen this situation, he would have understood it, and he would have gone in person to make sure that it was done according to the Constitution, according to his gubernatorial authority, according to constitutional right and justice. And I think that is, I guess, the measure of the man, because these kinds of situations are the test. They show an individual in terms of that ultimate character that is needed to really stand with courage and conviction and strength in a way that will preserve our constitutional integrity."""

We have an honorable man in the Oval Office. Is there anyone who believed President Bush was perfect? You were wrong.
Alan Keyes is not perfect either, though at times it seems he thinks he approaches perfection.
I am surprised that TS was moved to a hospice, considering that she was not, and is not, a terminally ill patient. Why wasn't the license yanked?
Why was the husband (in name only) permitted to squander the money awarded for her care? Why not in a trust fund where TS would have benefited from the funds?
What if the Schindlers(sp) had the funds to hire a killer attorney early on? We have watched as the guilty have been set free by high profile lawyers. Why not the innocent?
Thanks, all, for keeping us informed. God Bless Terri, Lord. Be with her now and always.

Well, you see, that, I think, is even more damaging than anything, because if he leaves the impression that the governor has kowtowed to some county sheriff, he does immeasurable harm to the Florida constitution, Keyes is wrong here. A County Sheriff is the supreme law enforcement officer within that jurisdiction and the only one that is elected. A County Sheriff can even over-rule a Federal agent.

We don't know that Reagan would have done anything different. He never did anything to resist Roe v. Wade. The principles involved are identical, which is one reason the two Bushes are doing nothing. They know that the moment either one of them takes action to save Terri's life, the question will be asked: "Why don't you do the same thing to save the lives of all the babies who are dying because of court decisions?
The answer is that there is no answer. Terri has to die because saving her life would be too embarrassing to a Governor and a President who have winked while 4000 babies a day have been killed without any Executive action to protect their lives.

Alan Keyes is a jack ass. I lost ALL respect for him last year after the fiasco of him picking up sticks and running off to Illinois.
Some Federalist..

JOSEPH FARAH, HOST: We've got with us a special guest. Alan Keyes is back with us--diplomat, author, talk show host, brilliant orator, statesman, constitutional scholar. And his organization the Declaration Foundation can be accessed on the web at Declaration.net. Welcome to the program, Alan.
Wasn't it one of you gents who was discussing with me last week the "verbing" of nouns?

Alan Keyes' support is worth about as much as Jesse Jackson's. Except, of course, Jackson's not done nearly as much to hurt the conservative cause in the black community as Keyes has.

Alan, Alan. Where are your stones?

Speculating about what the late President Reagan would have thought and done about Terri is akin to Michael Sciavo and others speculation about what Terri would have wanted and Terri would have done.
Alan Keyes is just blowing hot air, as usual.

I think the most charitable explanation for the Bush brothers' behavior is that they do not believe that Terri Schiavo is being killed illegitimately.
If they do believe that, their behavior is disgraceful.

("Reagan would have had the stones to save Terri")That is vulgar imagery, and I did not see anywhere in the interview that Alan Keyes used that language. Whatever one thinks about Alan Keyes, he always expresses himself with elegance.

This is a great article. Once again, I am impressed with Keyes and want him to have more visibility and a larger role.

It's easy to say what Ronald Reagan MIGHT have done. There's no proof, and we can't ask him anymore.
