Greer has done nothing technically illegal"""

I want to know about the legality of Greer ordering all those cops to surround the hospice, and - supposedly - a shoot order, if state officials showed up to rescue Terri. I'd like to know whether such an order really was ever given, and about it's legality if it was.

Also, what about the defiance of congressional subpeonas?

Oh, I do too. A simple reading of the FL State Constitution clearly says that all public employees - including the county sheriffs - ultimately answer to the governor.

My take is that by planning to use armed resistance to the DCF, they are in rebellion against the state of Florida. At that point the governor should have declared them so and sent in a team capable of restraining them physically.

But, he didn't, and they are still there, essentially running their own little armed camp outside the state and federal laws, apparently beholden only to one judge.

I don't believe that is true. What I am given to understand happened is this:
Gov. Bush had members of the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement (FDLE) ready to go to Pinellas Park and remove Terri under state custody so he could get the feeding tube re-inserted prior to Greer issuing an order that blocked the Gov. from taking that action. As a courtesy to the local gendarmes, the FDLE notified the Pinellas Park gendarmes that they might be coming in to take Terri under state protective custody. It was the Pinellas Park gendarmes who responded that that would be an unwise action to take that would result in a standoff.

So, what we had, was a local police chief telling a state police agency NOT to attempt to carry out the orders of the governor. This is, IMO, one of the major reasons Gov. Bush has backed off of ordering any state police, DCF or FLNG to forcibly remove Terri. The potential for an armed standoff is real and could lead to a bad situation becoming exacerbated by a factor of 10 or better.
