Feral cat nuisance plan under attack By Robert Imrie, Associated Press Writer
WAUSAU, Wis. A La Crosse firefighter who as a youngster cared for a cat named Fluffy ignited a firestorm by proposing that free-roaming wild cats be declared an unprotected species in Wisconsin just like skunks. People could shoot them, drown them or kill them by any means without being charged with a crime.

I think you have to start with 2 cats. If you have an fertile female cat, nature will always provide the male. Sometimes it seems the darn things are born pregnant, like tribbles!

Feral cats are an environmental catastrophe. Period.CORRECTION---pesticides and developers here in florida have killed thousands of wildlife and birds right before my eyes. The feral cats I feed behind my house have yet to kill any bird......and I'd know. IT's a big fat lie that cats can attribute to any change in environment.

THe right and humane thing to do is to get those 'feral' --'homeless' cats fixed...like us kind people do. THen yu just feed them. Let them have a semi-decent life. You won't have rats....and they will leave the birds alone if they have food.

I'm with you. Cats hunt whether they are hungry or not. Part of being a conservationist and not a bunny hugger, means that when we have to cull a herd or exterminate nusiance wildlife, that we do what is right for the environment, not the "PC thing". Cute animals aren't given any free passes. These tree huggers forget that sportsmen are the biggest advocates for protection of our wilderness and its species.
If the cat lovers loved them so much they would have been live trapping them and finding homes for them, but they aren't.
To: armymarinemom
Absolutely. Saved stray cats make wonderful additions to the household. They remember what it was like to starve and they are eternally grateful.
To: Al Gator
Yes and that's very nice that you did that.
Now, about the other couple of million cats roaming loose?..
You fix them. Soon the numbers will go down. The problem of having an open shoot on ferals is that no cat will be safe. I don't let my cat out. But a lot of people do. Just wait, if they make it legal to shoot cats, if your cat roams into someones yard, it will be shot, poisoned, etc. Actually you will see people using poison bait to kill them off if this law is passed. Poison kills all cats, not just feral ones. Remember the new law would take away protection from being killed, not just to shoot them. Also, this new law is open-ended with the definition of Feral. I mean what if you put a collar on your cat & it comes off and then someone shoots it. That would be OK under the new law if passed.

Dear Zippee.
Methinks you stumbled into the wrong forum.
Your feral cats are killers. You can choose to ignore that, and that makes you ignorant.
Enough time spent on you.

I don't want to shoot cats and I'm in the wrong forum? SO you choose to ignore spraying of pesticides and developing lands?

Well then just think! You'll be FORCED TO BE RESPONISIBLE for your damn cat!
What a concept!!!
BTW, you can catch and neuter all the cats you want. "Good" cat lovers will still let FeeFee out to make more.

Nice story. My parents told this me as a child. The way a person treats an animal is the way they will treat people. I mean in terms of kindness & compassion.

Spraying pesticide is a GOOD thing, if you think otherwise, you are in the wrong forum.
Development is a GOOD thing. If you think otherwise, you are in the wrong forum.
Dear Zippee, why don't you zip on back to PETA?
