As I have mentioned in previous posts, there will be no good outcome from this whole episode.
I saw that interview and this doctor was persuasive and reasonable. But his input is just one piece of the puzzle.
It's an article of faith around here that Terri is fine, her doctors are all wrong, she's being snuffed out to cover up years of abuse and attempted murder by Michael, and to fund a secret cabal of greedy death cultists. Unless you've got a WND or NewsMax article that backs up that assertion, don't expect a lot of support.
Does he even suggest that he's a fair and impartial host on this show? It is to laugh if he does.
I wonder, if Terri has been 'dead for fifteen years', as Dr Deathford proclaimed, how come her 2002 CT showed some improvement in tissue from the earlier one? [HINT: the distance from brain stem when the image is made has a lot to do with how much cerebral cortex shows up on the scan.] Cranford (Dr. Deathford) is a paid assistant in the euthanasia movement; his bias, far from being ignored by Greer, etal, is a reason to favor his diagnosuis over ANY OTHERS ... if you're in the Felos 'starve 'um for the advancement of civilization' camp.
Until the decision to starve her to death, she was not in danger of death, just of living too long to suit her husband. If her husband isn't willing to shoulder the burden, he could have passed it off to her parents and siblings who were more than willing.
This reminds me of the book "Johnny got his Gun", by Dalton Trumbo. The book is about a soldier in WWI who get all of his limbs blown off, goes deaf, loses his sight, and loses his speech, from a bomb. In the story, the soldier becomes concious again and realizes that he is just a "piece of meat that keeps on living." Years pass, and eventually he is able to communicate with his nurse by morse code. She tells the military about him, and they communicate. He tells them what its like to be a vegtable, and he asks them to kill him. When he does not get his wish granted, he realizes life for him will be a living hell for the rest of his existance. I think when you're nothing but a brainless bag of skin, you have the right to die.
Cranford is a member of the board of directors of the Choice in Dying Society, which promotes doctor-assisted suicide and euthanasia.
He was also a featured speaker at the 1992 national conference of the Hemlock Society. The group recently changed its name to End of Life Choices.
Firstly, the slices of the opposing CT scans are obviously on 2 different planes. One can tell by the shadow of the cavity at the top of Ms. Schiavo's (?) scan. Secondly, yes, it is a severely atrophied brain but there is a sliver of cortex left. Thirdly, one has to wonder about the artifact floating in the ventricle. Cranford claims it is her thalmic implant (apparently dislodged?), but it looks surprising like a ventricular shunt. There is nothing in the published medical record to indicate that Ms. Schiavo ever had a shunt (though she probably should have), therefore, we may not be looking at the real 2002 CT of Ms. Schiavo.
