TRANSCRIPT Updated: 4:04 p.m. ET March 29, 2005 The overwhelming majority in the medical community say Terri Schiavo has close to no brain activity and has no chance of regaining awareness. Dr. Ronald Cranford, who actually examined Terri Schiavo in 2002 and testified to her condition, joined "The Abrams Report" on Monday. Cranford is the assistant chief of neurology at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis as well as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota's Center for Bioethics. Below is the transcript of their conversation.
DAN ABRAMS, HOST: You're one of the few people who has actually examined Terri Schiavo and you're hearing all of these people who are coming on from the sidelines saying, "She's has been misdiagnosed," et cetera. How confident are you in your diagnosis and why?
DR. RONALD CRANFORD, UNIV. OF MN NEUROLOGIST: I'm extremely confident. I think at the time of the trial in 2002 there had been eight neurologists who examined her. And of those eight neurologists total, seven of them said beyond any doubt whatsoever Terri is in a vegetative state. Her CT scan shows severe atrophy or shrinkage of the brain. Her EEG is flat and there's absolutely no doubt that she's been in a permanent vegetative state ever since 1990. There's no doubt whatsoever, Dan.

To what question are you responding? If you're responding to the question of whether a test pilot should be allowed to attempt to fly a plane using differential thrust alone when all other control systems fail, I don't see what religion should have to do with it.
Florida does not recognize common law marriages. It doesn't exist there.
I was also told, but I don't know for sure if it's true, that Florida prohibits divorcing a person in Terri's state.
Are you aware that Michael Schiavo began to date only at the Schindler's urging? They even encouraged him to bring his girlfriends to meet them.

ROTLF! And she takes dancing classes as well? Terri doesn't follow anyone anywhere. The two nurses who signed affidavits weren't even called to testify because their claims were so incredible. She has minimal ability to swallow and it isn't sufficient to take food or water orally.
The video clearly shows her following the balloon.
And the video they showed the court displayed about 10 hours of terri doing nothing on command. How many times did they wave the balloon in front of her face before they got 3 seconds of her eyes drifting across the room?
I know it makes you feel better to pretend she's "there" (though why, I can't imagine) but repeating lies about her speaking, walking and voluntarily tracking objects with her eyes on command are not helping anyone.
This is not a grand conspiracy to MURDER!!!!! Poor Terri Schiavo.

No, she's not tracking the balloon. The person holding the balloon is following her eye movements. They reviewed hours of tape in all the trials and couldn't find any purposeful movement or any indication she could follow commands. A cleverly edited videotape (how many hours did they film to get that 3 second clip) isn't proof of anything.

The nurse who claims she spoon fed Terri was deemed NOT credible by the courts....probably because she claimed a grand conspiracy by the hospice..who went so far as to use a secret magic eraser to remove all the notes she made that showed Terri walking, talking and playing Parchesi (sarcasm).

Their affidavits were dismissed and never used in court. If they'd been credible the Schindlers would have called them to testify, wouldn't they? As it is, even the Schindler lawyers can see a crackpot when they're sitting in front of them.
Terri died 15 years ago. Through extraordinary measures, they brought her body back to life but her higher brain was so severely damaged they left her a vegetable...who has to depend on life support to survive.
I think there will be great pressure to appoint an autopsy panel of top forensic experts.
As near as I can tell, he is Thomas Patrick Boyle, MD, of DaVinci Diagnostic Imaging, Boca Raton.
I am not a doc, but I would bet Dr Boyle has forgotten more about radiology than that quack Cranford ever knew. If you want to understand Cranford's qualifications, read that article Electowoman linked above.

Quite evidently your opinion is but opinion and your lack of respect for Terri and your moral deficit regarding the dignity she should command for no reason other than she is a human being and exists suggest you not objective but subjective regarding the value of life.
To subjectively value the merits of a life is to set oneself up as God -you are not God... You are lacking conscience...
