Okay. "Brain dead" is sloppy terminology.

Her cerebral cortex is virtually dead, is it not? It's liquified, is it not?

The functional part of her brain is the brain stem, correct?

Am I right on this part?

NO, the accepted standard medical tests for diagnosis of PVS are MRI and PET scans which have been continuously denied. A CAT scan is not conclusive of brain function.
There is not a conclusive diagnosis of PVS in this case.

You could have made that statement with some degree of certainty 15 years ago but it would not meet minimal standards in 2005. That's why we have functional MRIs and PET scans. We can get an idea of not just brain mass but also function. These kinds of studies are extremely relevant when making a decision about harvesting organs for donors if brain death is suspected. Why kill someone based on 15 year old technology?
