Actually, they're not. The details of the case do not make MS look good at all and many people do not go into this case wanting Terri to live and change their minds. Just the opposite, actually.
And then there's the fake memo. The Dems want that to go away as soon as possible. It served its purpose and they need to keep that under the shadows.
I'm one of those people. Before I knew anything about this case I thought she should be "allowed to die". My understanding of the case was: Terri Schiavo has been brain-damaged for years and her husband has been fighting her family in court (for a long time) to take her off of life-support so that she could die.
Then I actually took the time to look into the case and after learning the facts of the case, I changed my mind. I ;earned that Terri Schiavo was not on artificial life support at all but only recieved her food through a feeding tube. This fact made a huge differene to me because my own father was ona feeding tube for the last three years of his life. My family and my Dad NEVER considered this to be artificial life support and that is simply because it is not. Food and water are required for all living beings to live. The healthiest person in the world will DIE if they are denied food and water.
After reading up on this case (and I still have not read it all), I came to believe that there is a travesty being commited down in Florida. I firmly believe that Terri Schiavo is being murdered.
There is nothing "natural" about her impending death as is the case with terminally ill patients whose bodies are in the process of dying and slowly shut down due to their illness (this was the case with my Dad. In his last week, his body was not absorbing his food anymore. I was aware that this was a sign that his death was likely imminent but I still fed him as much as his body would 'accept'. He knew this as well and yet he still wanted to be fed and he also wanted to call the doctor and find out if there was anything that could be done to help him as he did not want to die yet...).
Terri Schiavo does not have a terminal illness. She is brain damaged. There are many who say she is in a PVS state and there are many who say she is not and that with rigorous therapy (which has been denied to her by her husband) there may be a slight chance of some recovery.
Nonetheless, she is NOT dying of a termianl disease and she is not being kept alive by anything other than nutrition and hydration - something ALL living beings need to remain living. This is the main issue for me.
The HUGE problem I have with this is that the removal of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube is not ALLOWING her to die but rather it is CAUSING her to die. That is, IMHO, nothing short of murder.
