I beg to differ. Ever noticed that the majority of our men and women in uniform are conservatives, and the majority of "conscientious objectors" (deserters and criminals), are liberals? Hmmmm...

To McGovern's credit, he didn't try to hide his views and reaped the above result in 1972.

On the other hand, he is still a mush-headed, mealy-mouthed liberal who cannot understand there is no worthwhile difference between the the totalitatian Fascists of Hitler's day and the Communists and Islamofascists of our day. If we do not sweep them into the dustbin of history, all the money in the world spent on health care, education and other favorite liberal causes will matter little.

Much like Carter, McGovern never met a tin pot dictator or thug commie he didn't like. McGovern has so many downright scary ideas, I can only laud 1972 voters for helping Nixon trounce his butt.

I respect him for doing what he did in WWII. I'd respect him more if he admitted that we were wrong to leave that part of the world to the communists.

Part of their rationale for leaving Vietnam wasn't true and millions suffered torture or died as a result. I dodn't hear an apology for that.

Yes, George, patriotism [should be] nonpartisan. So should morality and common sense. Don't seem to be, though.

Correction: Patriotism SHOULD be nonpartisan.
