Maybe I'm just in a good mood, and of course nil nis bonum and all that, but though I detested Cochran at the time of the OJ trial, with the passing of years I've cut him some slack. He was doing his job, and did it well. The ultimate responsibility was on the jury.
I think that although the trial stirred up bad racial tensions, he in fact was not a racially motivated guy. He just wanted to be famous, get rich, and have fun. Really not the worst guy at all. May he rest in peace.
I agree with you, Johnny Cochran just did his job well. We might not like that job, but he was good at it, and I have had too many friends and relatives die of cancer to take pleasure in anyone's suffering. I am not qualified to judge anyone's worth, when you set yourself up as an arbitrater of personal worth, you are no better than those who wish Terry Shiavo dead.
