RE: "Dont worry KID....i wont, its delusional!"

Tow the line, old man, tow the line.
maybe if you kiss-ass to the authoritarian Moral Majority Republicans enough, you'll get a position in the Buchanan cabinet (when pigs fly and Hell freezes over, of course).

For what it's worth....

There were other Defense Lawyers, that had other criminal cases, but chose to take another path.....

"Herndon relates, as an instance of Lincoln's moral honesty and his horror of a lie, that he [Herndon] once drew up a dilatory plea for the purpose of delaying a case for another term. But when it came Lincoln's attention he promptly repudiated it.

"Is this founded on fact?" Lincoln inquired, and when Henderson admitted it was done merely to save their client's interests, which might otherwise be endangered, Lincoln instantly replied:

"You know it is a sham, and a sham is very often but another name for a lie. Don't let it go on record. The cursed thing may come staring us in the face long after this suit is forgotten." And the plea was withdrawn.

Leonard Swett, of Chicago, for years an intimate associate, and himself, one of the most famous of American Lawyers, says that "sometimes, after Lincoln entered upon a criminal case, the conviction that his client was guilty would affect him with a sort of panic. On one occasion he turned suddenly to me and said, "Swett, the man is guilty; you defend him, I can't," and so gave up his share of a large fee."

'The Wit & Wisdom of Abraham Lincoln', By Anthony Gross, Barnes&Noble, New York, 1994

Lincoln's "Notes on the Practice of Law," about a two-page essay which is available in the Modern Library's Lincoln anthology, is a concise, to-the-point standing rebuke of Cochranism in the legal profession. It should be required reading in every law school, and much better known to the public than it is. "If you cannot be honest and be a lawyer, resolve to be honest without being a lawyer."

"the accolades and praise this wretch is getting on this thread are appalling ..."

There is a lot of stupidity on FReep. If even our own people can't speak intelligently about Cockroach, how can we expect the American people to understand what's wrong with him? How can we win our many battles if our own people aren't with us, especially in a case of such moral clarity?

The first big foul-up in the OJ case, at least among the prosecutors, was when D.A. Garcetti met with the local NAACP
(or was it the Urban League?) and shortly thereafter ruled out seeking the death penalty.

By admitting that racialist black-advocacy groups have ANY legitimate voice in this case, he turned it into a political and racial matter before Cockroach, Schapiro, Jerkowitz and the rest got their filty paws on it.

And by ruling out the death penalty in advance, Garcetti legitimized the skewing of the legal system in favor of celebrity defendants, or at least black celebrity defendants.

I don't know enough to comment on the prosecution's conduct at trial. But these huge missteps by Garcetti beforehand set things up nicely for Cockroach's vile manipulations.

If OJ were convicted, the integrity of the legal system would have been upheld.

Yes, scumbags would have rioted in South Central. And the police, National Guard, etc., might not have done anything. But don't forget, we still have the Second Amendment. Some of the small-business people would have been killed defending their property. But I bet you they would have taken a lot of scumbage with them. To be perfectly blunt about it, a riot in which lots of the rioters are killed is a tragedy for the victims, but probably a good thing for society as a whole.

But mankind chose to live in that area and the people that had the knowledge to tell them a disaster was coming decided not to. People decide to stay on when a hurricane is eminent or build their houses in areas that have mudslides and fires. True there are many instances when we cannot see the direct link to our choice, and sometimes it may not be a choice by us but a perfect plan by God. In otherwords ,God makes it happen because it is in His plan( like the death of Jesus).
Look at the Tsunami, what good deeds did that create, What love did we show towards each other from that event.
I think that eventually one of us would have decided to eat the fruit as Adam and Eve did and we would still be in the same boat. Although I do not believe in reperation payment, I will say that we are all linked at some point and therefore we must pay the same price for the sin. Becasue we are guaranteed the same salvation.
Unfortunately when the Bible talks of submission, many thinks it only means women but it means men as well. This submission is in knowing that God is the Alpha and Omega It is hard to submit to the lack of wisdom that we have and the perfect knowledge that God has.
I'm sorry for the pain you felt in the passing of your grandfather and the divorce of your parents. I too have felt grief and I hope that you find peace in this eventually. And if there is anything I can comment on that may help I will do that.

Where Johnnie Cochran will spend eternity is something only the Almighty can answer, not I or any other mortal.

My prayers go out to his family.

BTW media reports always referred to him as Johnnie Cochran *Jr.*. Was his father prominent?

Also BTW I saw a poster once at the Delaware State Fair in one of the carnival booths. It showed the Juice's mugshot, altered so that OJ had a Bart Simpson 'do, and the caption TV's #1 Show: The Simpson. :-)

You know, FR would return to normal, even with even more of these recent highly-contentious issues, if folks would just refrain from the personal innuendos, attacks, and cold shots, continue to give their opinions and comments strongly and stridently, accept the fact that there are going to be those that disagree with you, and don't take offense at that.

There's an old saying that when you get personal in an argument, you're losing it! (the argument 8-) ).

If you can't comport yourself that way, you definitely do not belong at FR.

I had those too, but that's what FReepmail is for, isn't it.....going to another poster directly with a bitch or gripe, rather than befouling the open forum.?

I'm not saying FReepmail should be a total flame tool, but you are able to ignore or report to ABUSE as the situation warrants, and control disturbing reponses that way.

I use FReepmail mostly to communicate with those that disagree with me, to see if they're willing to discuss a point or two so that I may learn something from them.

I've had some pretty nice conversations with folks that way, don't think anyone's changed their opinion, 8-), but the talk is reasonable. They're not all that way.

Yeah, the MSM spin was in full spin about his other "contributions" to the poor, etc.,

They are trying to reshape the true legacy....as usual.
