REPORT: Famed attorney Johnny Cochran died this afternoon in California following an extended illness... Developing...
I wonder if he's sweatin'...
Cochran got a bloody murderer off.
This is a bad thing.
Cochran knew he was guilty.
RE: "But our few "baddies" can't hold a candle to the pure, venomous hate that inhabits DU and the extreme left. They can't tolerate defeat and being out of power, and are infact a dangerous lot."
Too true. Unlike some of their more insane counterparts on DU, I don't think too many FReepers are capable of actual violent mayhem in pursuit of their beliefs. Many of the posters on DU seem to be on the verge of strapping a bomb to their chests and joining the anti-American jihad in Iraq.
I do disagree with your assessment of the number of FR baddies as a "few". A few too many if you ask me.
I join in prayer for his loved ones - God's blessing, peace and guidance as they deal with his home-going.
Your hilarious!!!!
I agree. I couldn't justify getting off the guilty for some philosophy about the system, I was just saying that what he did didn't even go to that. Like most attorneys who delude themselves about a greater good, I think it was all about winning.
RE: "Every time someone cries wolf it makes it that much more difficult for those who are truly wronged."
True enough, but how does that make Cochran a dangerous man? Low moral values is not (in and of itself) a cause of danger to the safety and well-being of others.
And just what was so "dangerous" about those black people supporting O.J. during the trial? Maybe they just saw things a little differently than you and me, and I doubt a "guilty" verdict would have incited the same kind of violence seen during the Rodney King debacle.
BTW: I think O.J. was utterly guilty of the murders at hand, that Cochran was using underhanded (but time-tested and legal) tactics to defend his client from the charge, and that the LAPD was a corrupt and sometimes racist organization throughout much of the '80's/early 90's, as evidenced by the many, many scandals and similar charges that erupted against the LAPD half a decade ago (leading to much-needed changes in the system designed to ensure equal protection of all citizens under the law).
Cutler did manage to get more murderers off that Cochran, but having Gotti's lawyer represent you might prejudice the jury just a bit ... :)
That is a very lovely post.
Thank you for your encouragements!
1.- It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
2.- Payback's a b*tch.
3.- Cheatin' shows.
4.- Trivia is sometimes funny.
5.- We forgive you now, Johnny Cockroach (NOT!)
Had no respect for the man but may he rest in peace and God bless his family at this time.
I don't care what his family thinks. Cochran got a murderer off who is now free. The world is much better off without him. Good riddance and I pray for his soul.
Why all the compassion on behalf of this scumbag? The world is better off without him. So is Los Angeles.
I agree.. My thought is I wonder which lawyer was chasing the Ambulance on the way to the hospital.
I heard ads on the radio. I'm guessing it was months ago.
RE: "I didn't wish him dead and I'm not glad that he is dead, but I think he did some damage to our society."
Agreed, mostly.
Considering that Johnnie Cochran represented Michael Jackson at one time or another, and since Jesse Jackson just hosted Michael Jackson for an hour long triple-quadruple WHINE about how "it's all about racism" and about how "white America" wants to tear down "black luminaries," I thought that this might be an appropriate place to post this delicious wicked parody song.
It is too funny - graphics and all. Whoever created this song did a great job. It's hilarious. If Johnnie Cochran were here, he would die laughing.
ROFL!
