Remember, every life is dear, not just Terri Shaivo. The hypocrisy on this site has amazed me in the last couple of weeks. Whether or not you like that he successfully performed the job that he swore to do, his death shouldn't be a cause for jubilantly dancing on his grave. Those that call themselves Christian and delight in an innocent man's death are no better than the Muslims who celebrated when our towers fell.

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense!
Why would a Wookiee an eight foot tall Wookiee want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!
But more importantly, you have to ask yourself: what does that have to do with this case?
Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!
Look at me, I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense.
And so you have to remember when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No. Ladies and Gentlemen of this supposed jury it does not make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor you must acquit. I know he seems guilty. But ladies and gentlemen this is Chewbacca. Now think about that for one minute. That does not make sense. Why am I talking about Chewbacca when a man's life is on the line? Why? I'll tell you why. I don't know. It doesn't make sense. If Chewbacca does not make sense you must acquit. Here look at the monkey , look at the silly monkey. The defense rests."

What exactly ails Cochran remains a mystery. A spokesman revealed he is recovering from a neurological condition, and reports that Cochran is suffering from brain cancer have been denied. Apparently "Extra" isn't on top of things as I heard he had cancer last year (after he appeared several times on LKL to defend Peterson). He was to become a regular CNN legal pundit but only appeared two or three times and I assumed his cancer took a turn for the worse.

delight in an innocent man's death
If you're insinuating that Cochran was an "innocent man" you're sorely mistaken. He's got the blood of two innocents and an entire (mis)justice system on his cold dead hands.

"At the extremely high risk of getting hammered"
I won't hammer you. I agree completely with you. I think O.J. is as guilty as sin but something happened during the investigation (though I definitely don't have your memory for the facts of the case).
Johnnie Cochran did his job. The American legal system needs defense lawyers, who (often) see their role as protecting individuals as a group from the power of the state.
I'm 100% sure Cochran NEVER asked O.J. if he did it. He didn't want to know, particularly if there was ever a possibility that O.J. might take the stand (and now I can't remember, did he take the stand?).
A lawyer cannot knowingly put forth perjured testimony so defense lawyers don't want to know if their client is actually guilty.
Yes, this is a moral gray area, to put it lightly. But the system counts on the checks and balances of the other side and the jury system to sort out who is truly guilty.
(and now I'm the one wondering if I'll get hammered, LOL!)

I had heard he was ill...he took someone to court over the use of his name. Never heard if there was an outcome, just that he was ill and couldn't be in court.

Maybe Johnnie can say hi to Nicole and Ron. I'll bet they tell him who the real killer was.

What about the income taxes on the gain, or would it get buried as a capital gain and only taxed when they sold? Game show winnings are taxed at some usurious rate. I guess the show could pay the income taxes as well (but then they would have to calculate the sum so that the taxes would cover equal tax rate * [home improvement + tax payments] ).
