A special interview with the family of little Jessica Lunsford and tapes of Couey's comments. Coming up
Can you give some detail for the FOx Challenged? Thanks
will do
I saw him at the funeral service (a bit of it was on TV). He still is crying. What a horror.
So far: Only a little bit of a tape of Couey asking for help for his affliction 15 years ago. Knew he had a problem, asked for help. Still waiting for more.
Oh, my it was heartbreaking to hear Jessica's father speaking at her funeral---he seems like such a gentle man.
I saw a debate about what to do with sex offenders when they are let out of prison. It was probably on Fox, and the lib lawyer got very upset when the possibility of the offenders having to wear a monitoring device at all times was brought up---
He said it wouldn't be fair "to brand them and mark with with the Scarlett letter"---to which I said, well nothing, I changed the channel because I couldn't stand to hear a defense attorney making excuses for these perverted murderers!
Michael Lunsford said System failed him and his his daughter. Very sad. Talked about Couey's history from the 1970's. He is angry with system, angry with Couey. Said Couey should have gotten help on his own. Any heinous crime against a child should get death penalty or life depending on state laws. Agreed there is no cure. Should at the very least have a Two prong approach: Penalties and punishment. 1,000 hours education on sexual preditors, if released should be highly monitored
Lots of discussion about how Couey got let out again and again. Michael said people who run the system should be held accountable to enforce the rules.
Michael Lunsford said he never saw Couey before in his life, even though he visited his sister, and lived across the street with her. Michael Lunsford said when he pulled Couey's name up on the state list of sex preditors it was at an address was on Grover Cleveland Ave, over 5 miles away.
Talked about the Iowa kidnapping. Talked about his daughter
Sean said a great little girl, Michael chocked up - said "That's the kind of kid she was, that's the kind of kid she still is.
Just DAMN!
Well, CitizenM, it seems that there aren't very many people as interested in this subject as Terri Schiavo---
I know Terri is still alive, and Jessica is dead, but considering what happened this LAST weekend to the little girl, Jetseta (something), who was probably being abused by brothers, this particular story is much more likely to happen again and again...
I just look at my little granddaughter and shudder to think about either one of them having to go through what poor little Jessica and Jetseta had to...
I've taken a liking to this guy. He has been through a lot, he handles it well. I admire his ability to speak from the heart. He has a way of connecting, wanting to fix a larger problem, without sounding hateful or vengeful or something. He is a class act.
However, and this in no way means I am not concerned about Terri - but the problem of kidnapping and child molestation will still be here long after Terri's story is ended.
It is sickening it has not arroused as much support on FR as the Terri story. In a matter of a few weeks, 2 girls are dead at the hands of these beastly men, and another is missing today (in Florida) who was picked up by two men. We will probably get the sad details on her soon. I want to vomit!
You are right. I was a supporter of him from the beginning when people were degrading him. His sincerity always was noticed, I felt. He is just a humble man, with a great deal of love for his daughter. She was, evidently his world, which does not seem to have had much except her. God bless him. He needs our prayers and admiration. I am so glad you see that.
I asked a sarcastic question on a thread the other day about Florida---
I asked if anyone else noticed how many bad things seem to happen in Florida---not EVERY bad thing, of course, but it seems like Florida has more than most states of child abuse problems and problems with their court system---
As far as Jessica's father and the rest of the family---I noticed that except for Fox News on the weekend with a couple of weekends ago, most of the MSM practically ignored most of this story---
Maybe if the girl and the family had been pretty and rich like the one in Utah, there would have been more.
I was very impressed with Mark Lunsford, very humble and gentle, but he obviously has been thinking about this a lot and I doubt if we've heard the last of him regarding the sex offenders problem in America...
AMEN, brutha!!!
I say this monster who has done this evil act, should be castrated.
