I don't want to be a hotlinker, but no matter which side of this you're on, you'll have to admit that this is the funniest take on this case yet - and it's aimed squarely at us.

If I'm wrong, no great harm.
You've always got an excuse for yourself. First, other people are supposed to do your research for you to answer your questions. [I assume that means you don't know how to find info for yourself.] Now, according to you, if you were wrong in the vicous, unfounded charges you made about MS-- no harm, no foul! You are so transparent.

None of the speculation about MS has been proven - which is supposed to be how it works. I assert the following:
- Michael Schiavo as refused to allow many of the tests that a competant neurologist would consider essential prior to labeling someone incurably PVS.
- Although a 30-second exam may in some cases suffice to prove absolutely that a patient is not PVS, a meaningful diagnosis of PVS requires considerably more than an hour's examination of the patient.
- The doctors who declared Terri to be incurably PVS(*) examined her for less than an hour each.
- (*)A diagnosis of PVS historically meant nothing more nor less than that no unmistakable signs of cognition had been discovered yet. There is a big difference between that meaning and the implied one that no cognition exists.
Do you dispute any or all of these assertions?

That would be true, except for one little problem: the only ones saying that are the Democrats
RIGHT ON!!
To: lonevoice
Yes, MANY Democrats have varied opinions on the forced starvation of Terri as well. This cartoon could be applied to them too.
The MSM wants to support the death of Terri and they support anything that, even remotely, denigrates religion, especially conservative Christianity.
These Christians, by the way, for all those who do not remember... helped to elect a Republican Congress and a re-elect George Bush.
The MSM will never forgive them for that. Terri's death is just a way for the MSM to "stick it" to the Christians. They want her dead and us Conservative Christians ... outta' the way..powerless and gone!!

Why not? it was one of the more looney ideas that I have seen come across on these threads.

Regarding MRI vs CT scans: MRI machines certainly have much higher fidelity; however CT scans have been used for over 30 years to determine changes in tissue density in the brain (they were designed for this). The diagnosis (of fluid buildup causing compression and death of brain tissue) is based on tissue density information described in her scans - http://www.miami.edu/ethics2/schiavo/CT%20scan.png . Had this been an issue of small trauma the issue would be different, however CT scans are more then capable to properly diagnose the problem.

"The parallel is insulting and specious (and very DU-like)."Got called a lot worse when I was deployed to the Democrat National Convention and the riots after the assassination of MLK in Chicago in '68, but I'm one of those "mindless, just following orders" types, I guess.

You forgot to add the part where recent brain scans show her entire cerebral cortex area to have basically turned to mush.
And your assertions have zero to do with my viewpoints/opinions here - other than to reinforce that folks will seize on any circumstantial evidence to support their view. None of your "assertions" do anything to prove MS's intentions, or anyone else's for that matter. It's just speculation - which thank goodness doesn't sway juries in the criminal system.

Guess you haven't seen my #260 yet..... Felt very bad sending it but it's getting a bit old. Better check the spread on myself???
To: Chad Fairbanks
Had this been an issue of small trauma the issue would be different, however CT scans are more then capable to properly diagnose the problem. The problem is that what was relevant here wasn't the 'problem', but the residue. A CT scan could certainly tell there wasn't a whole lot of the cortex left, but in functional terms there can be a huge difference between 'very little' and 'none'. A CT scan can't make the distinction, but other technologies could.

I agree with you.
Let the left/libs/dems gloat in their delusions and sink.
Does anyone think ? that when our founding fathers were hammering out our Constitution, that things were serene and blissful ?
If walls had ears, we would have gotten a earful listening in on their ( often heated ) discussions on what our Constitution should be, but, yet ? it still survived.
And us, and the Republican Party will survive from what has taken place in the last month.
The dems/libs have placed their bets, and placed their eggs in one basket on what has been happening with us, and the Republican Party for the passed few weeks in that it will weaken us, or fracture us, but, the dems/libs are sadly mistakenly WRONG .
Let the dems/libs continue to think delusional, that this issue has weaken us, or think, that the general public polls shows that they agree with the liberal elitist.
This just proves over and over again ! that the left/libs are so out of touch with the general America public.
They are going to lose more and more elections, because, they ( the dems/libs ) STILL DON"T GET IT, and the dems/libs still think, that the general public agrees with them, THEY DON'T.

Post of the day !! Exactly spot on. Hope you don't get flamed too badly. That's why fuzzycat's been keeping quiet. I used to really enjoy coming here. Hope we get back to normal soon.
To: Chad Fairbanks
Chad, I'll take the word of a prominent an academic neurologist like Dr Moran that you are wrong. Don't quit your day job and take up brain surgery.

There really is no depth to the demonization that's been going on, or is yet to come.
It is all well deserved, although many of the real culprits are still in hiding.

You forgot to add the part where recent brain scans show her entire cerebral cortex area to have basically turned to mush. There are some people who are capable of walking and talking even though they have very large portions of their brains missing. A CT scan is of limitted use for distinguishing between someone with zero cortex remaining and someone with a little.
