I don't want to be a hotlinker, but no matter which side of this you're on, you'll have to admit that this is the funniest take on this case yet - and it's aimed squarely at us.

Are you sure you're not being a bit too emotional about people being emotional?

My thought exactly about the opposition...

what makes a conservative up is the ability to separate emotions from logical and be rational in times of great need

Yup.

did I say it was ok? Didn't think so, so let's not ASSume ok?

None of this means the judges are right. It does show that A) the crappy law that says a feeding tube is life support needs to be repealed and B) Judicial reforms are well well well overdue.

But calling for violence (thankfully the mods have pulled every POS post that has called for that), marines storming the hospice (I do know of someone who was getting flamed because she said her cousins, who happen to be Marines, weren't coming home to "save Terri"), and then blaming and piling onto the only man who has kept Terri alive to this point in time (ahem Jeb Bush) has gotten to the point that quite a few people may not come back here.

And don't even get me started on the idolization of this poor woman either.

holy crap is that an illustration of FR the past 2 weeks?
Only because the mods don't allow cussing or too over-the-top ad hominems...LOL.

I started a new job where I can't get OL during the day, but I can listen to the radio. Figures that Laura and Rush seemed to be tallking about nothing but the Schiavo case...as if there was anything new to say. Even an Indians exhibition game was a relief of sorts. >:o

no doubt this is a tragedy. both for the Schiavos and for everyone connected to the case.

But let's not make it worse and just make it even more of a travesty.

Spot on - as was the original cartoon.

I find it ironic that many on the Left who are supposedly all about compassion (gun control, no war, welfare, etc) are now all about "let the girl die"!

Conversely, there are many on the Right who normally about getting the government out of our business - and are now calling for "legislation for what ails us"

This whole circus is over the top.

It only came about because the parents didn't agree with what MS and Terri's wishes were, and decided to sue/legislate to get their way. By supporting this, we are validating everything the Gore camp did by trying to sue/legislate their way into the White House.

This whole thing is a circus. Look at FR - you can't even get any other info right now because everyone is so hysterical/so full of their opinion/so inconsiderate that they're clogging the boards with this - as if nothing else of importance is happening in the world.

Additionally - look at the venom and name calling that goes on when someone DARES mention that it really isn't even slightly our business. It's not, after all. This is a very private hell between family members that someone chose to take all the way to the Supreme Court.

It's honorable to want your kid to live - and a natural part of parenting. But just like nobody can prove that Terri said she wouldn't want to live that way - nobody can prove that she did, either. And the original laws allowed for the spouse to make the decision.

And you know what? THAT IS the right way to look at it. I don't want anyone but my wife deciding this for me, and vice versa.

If all of the hysterical unproven accusations about MS are true, then he'll have to answer to God. In the meantime, Terri will pass, and go on to a better place where her arms/legs/brain work again. That's what I'd want for myself, not for someone to maintain me in some sort of pathetic shadow of what I had been, solely out of some misplaced (if well-intentioned) sense of duty.

There have even been folks here on FR that say that it doesn't matter what a person wishes, you should always keep them alive. How would you like to be married to these types of people? "I don't care what you want, as long as I'm comfortable with the situation.

How honorable is that?

The good that will come of this is that hopefully folks will make their wishes known - AND get it in writing, so that people that know ZERO about the whole situation will have no opportunity to cram their wishes down your throat.

That is my main opinion in this whole mess:
A. It's really none of our business.
B. Make your wishes known, and get it in writing.

Of course, now I'll get to hear about how I'm some hellbound death cultist. That's the level of discourse here lately.

you think that wasnt well thought out and well reasoned?

emotion is what caused the Boston Massacre, not the Boston Tea Party.

I violated a self imposed personal rule and posted on a TS thread the other day...though I have read many of the threads, I have been adamant about not posting to them because of my perception of what it looked like...it looks like the political cartoon.. looks like I'm gonna need some popcorn for this one too.......

Howdy, friend! Does that cartoon look like Fr lately, or what?

I think it is so funny and apropo---but do you notice, that the very thread that the cartoon is at the head of, has started to become the cartoon?

LOL

Hello,

I don't know where you come down on what has occurred with TS. I am responding to your tag line. I have completely been at odds with myself on having to evaluate the Bushes response to this. I have given it a lot of thought and have had to divide what I want to see done from what can be done. I would imagine that I will be flamed for this, but here is my take:

This has been coming for much longer than either of the Bush brothers have been in public office. They have done more than anyone else to protect her. Perhaps mistakes were made, however, I do not believe that either of these men were acting in bad faith. We have a huge mess to clean up, one that will not be cleaned up overnight. I despair over Terri's death and believe that she is a future (now or in a few days) victim of murder. That does not mean that we throw out the very men who tried.

Again, I fully expect to be slammed for this view. Let's really, based upon logic, view who is responsible for these acts, deal with them, and THEN, work our butts off to correct the legal problems (including the good-old-boy-networks that run things in many places) that brought us to this horrid place.

Sorry for the length of my post, Glad to be here, despite my grief about Terri and my grief that FR is being shredded by this issue. MOgirl

Agreed, and it's far too bad that it's become this way. I had thought that we were better than this.
