The dinner rolls always bothered me. Its not just in the movie , but also many paintings.

This actually doesn't bother me at all, since I suspect that the reason these "dinner rolls" are used in these renderings of the Last Supper is that they show bread in a form that is easily recognized by viewers who may have no idea what unleavened bread looks like.

It is true the Jews (collectively) did not kill Jesus, nor, by law could they. However, it is also true that Peter many times specifically reminded the Jewish RELIGIOUS LEADERS of "Christ, whom YOU crucified." Not the Romans. Peter clearly laid the crucifixion on the Jewish religious leaders---and, of course, Peter was a Jew.

The Jewish religious leaders themselves ASSUMED the total responsibility when Pilate washed his hands and they said, "His blood be upon us and our children."

I get concerned when we drift so far in the opposite direction of "anti-semitism" that we try to paper over what the Jewish RELIGOUS LEADERS did. Isreal wa a spiritually dead nation: Jesus said so many times. Paul said so, many times. They got that way by following their spiritually dead religious leaders. Obviously, not all because scripture says that the disciples---before they decided to follow Jesus---searched the scriptures and concluded He was the Messiah, as did thousands of other Jews.

It is really hard to explain how you know someone is
saved. The best way is a changed life. When Jesus
said "You must be born again" in John Chapter 3
And Paul said in 2 Cor 5.17 That we become a "New
Creation in Christ" they were both speaking of a change
person. An 11 year old girl may not see a big changed
but I as a 35 year old man saw a dramatic change in my life.

I often notice that depending on the view of the producer, Jesus film often play up or play down the Jewishness of the people.

I remember in the "little drummer boy" aaron has a kipa.

In the miniseries "masada" the Jews dressed like Jews.

Most movie Jesus's are goyish. Where is his Kipa or Kafiyeh.
Where is his tzitzit? In fact except for a film that John Rubinstein played Jesus, most movie Jesus are played by gentiles- Why is that.

I once read an article that claimed anti-semites try to make a distintion between "Hebrew " and "JEW"- (as if there is a distinction) -but that for many gentiles hebrw has positive connotaions and Jew has negative.

I remember a third rate tv moview with Victoria Principle as Queen Esther and the term Hebrew was used and not Jew- however in the book of Esther -Jew is used.

To continue to argue that either the Jews or Romans killed Jesus is a secular argument not one that Christians have with each other or Jews.Christians are called to witness to all nations.Pointless attacks on Jews twisting scripture no matter how suttle or thinnnly disguised does not further the cause of Christianity.

I enjoy reading the various religious threads on FR. But I must say, some articles are meandering and hard to read, and I put this article in that category.

I prefer reading the Catholic Daily Caucus threads. You get the gospel, you get several pithy commentaries, none of it is weird and meandering. That's just me, that's my opinion.

So, how can you show someone that you have been saved? How do you convince someone that this is a fact?
