After much hard work that has gone on for well over a year, it's been a week and 2 days since Terri has been without food and hydration.
Many asking the question how we could have become such a callous society as to deny a helpless human the basic necessity of food and water.
Terri's plight has brought to light many problems in the judicial system and opened our eyes to the fact that some laws need to be changed.
The work will continue to protect helpless individuals from suffering the same injustice as Terri.
bump for later
Unfortunately, there were those in Congress who insisted on changing the wording of that law from "shall" grant a de novo hearing to "may" grant a de novo hearing.
So Whittemore was within the letter of the law to not grant a de novo hearing, but he sure ignored the intent of the law.
Because of the weak wording of that law, GWB can't use the National Guard to enforce it.
The whole thing is very very sad. But GWB is not the one at fault in all of this.
Tutstar, no judge (county, circuit, district court of appeal, supreme court) in Florida is eligible to practice law during their tenure on the bench, although they remain members in good standing of the Florida Bar Association.
Upon their retirement from the bench, judges can again reassert their licenses to practice, if they wish. Alternatively, some judges are retained by the courts after retirement as "Senior Judges" who continue to hear cases in a judicial capacity, filling in for regular judges who may be vacationing, or otherwise in an overload situation.
OK, I just called both offices. They answered right away and are counting our calls. I was so tired on the phone and my words weren't coming out right but the one young man said he understood when I apologized for being so tired.
I also told them there are 4 registered voters in my house and asked them to please count all of us as we all feel the same and I didn't want to make 4 calls.
Amazing the Bush brothers have such "respect" for the law!
Since they do, they should enforce the Americans with Disabilities law.
They should enforce the Constitutional rights of Terri to life and religious freedom. No husband has the right to take those away from her, and no government agency has that right either!
They should enforce the law that protects federal congressional witnesses....
Come on!
Greer is a probate judge and HAS NO JURISDICTION TO STOP DFS!!!!
I don't know what happened on Thursday, but Jeb is a bloody fool to let this happen.
Yes, Davis is a John Warner Republican who represents a district with many wealthy federal employees.
Like I said, he is a fool to slap his supporters in the face this way. Does he think the left is suddenly going to start supporting him?
His state is in a mess. Children kidnapped every day, and murdered by parolees....
Something happened to Jeb between Wednesday, when he sounded so strong in helping Terri, and Thursday. What was it? Is the Schiavo mob that strong?
FL has the highest rate of violent crime in the nation, according to the latest statistics that I saw, followed by CA and TX, in that order.
Yeah, something did happen! He got scared and showed us he is not a leaders. it is simple, if Jeb runs for presidant in my lifetime he will not get my vote!
PRECISELY!!!!!!!!!!!
..........and if they have such a high regard for the LAW, what about the borders????????hmmmmmmmm good point.
"I don't know how much evidence, if any, criminally there is against Michael Schiavo, but if there is even one bit, the Schindlers should file criminal charges against him, and that way prevent him from cremating the body; if he cremated the body, my thinking is that would then be destroying evidence."
I agree with this..and it needs to be looked into NOW..but this would mean having a prosecutor decide if the evidence warrants it, and from what I understand there was an attempt at an investigation, but it was closed.
"I just was in to see Terri. She's alive, and she's fighting like hell to live," Terri's father Bob Schindler stated early Monday afternoon.
"She's failing, but she's still with us," Bob Schindler continued as Terri's brother looked on. "When the inmates at these concentration camps were released, if you can visualize in your minds how they came out, with their faces all sunken in and their eyes bulging, that's how Terri looks."
"I have a duty to follow the law. I was criticized for pushing as far as I could; now I'm criticized for not doing enough. It probably is a pretty good sign that I was in the right place," Bush said.

My husband just brought to my attention that not only is it illegal,( against the LAW Mr. President!!) for companies to hire illegals from out of the country , but for them to cross our border without a permit!!!! IF, IF the President is worried about enforcing the law, what about this , Mr. President??? The inconsistency is showing in FULL COLOR!!!!!!!
Good point Polly! I just sent the Presidant another e-mail and told him if he doesn't lead we will not follow him no more!
// I've been praying that the Lord will keep her organs operating well and that he will feed her food and water that will baffle the doctors. Please pray with me! He fed the Israelis with manna and water from a rock...He can do anything. // -- Yes, He can!
Hi, freepertoo -- that has been my prayer, too. I have wanted to be very specific in prayer. It helped me to focus at this time of grief to pray with someone else, which I was able to do with a special freeper friend this am, as well as with a regular partner in prayer earlier. I thank God for freeper friends like you all.
My prayers also for each of you here -- for your wellbeing at this most difficult time as we stand together for Terri and the Schindlers.
We did also pray for Felos, Michael, Greer, et al . . . and for people to rise up from the hospice and the community to speak the truth about Terri.
Is there a prayer thread going right now?
And if they did not legalize the illegal activities, it would be even higher!
Reminds me of the Mexican government, who say "their hands are tied", when American girls are kidnapped and enslaved.
So...Jeb isn't going on what his conscience says?
No, that is not the case in Florida. Candidates for judicial office in Florida must have been a member of the Florida Bar for the 5 years preceding their filing for the election.
Guess not!
