After much hard work that has gone on for well over a year, it's been a week and 2 days since Terri has been without food and hydration.
Many asking the question how we could have become such a callous society as to deny a helpless human the basic necessity of food and water.
Terri's plight has brought to light many problems in the judicial system and opened our eyes to the fact that some laws need to be changed.
The work will continue to protect helpless individuals from suffering the same injustice as Terri.
Could it be too that Terri's extermination will have its greatest unintended impact in FL politics? There may be a "silent" protest vote against Republicans who did not speak up for her, but there may not be that many who are outraged in FL, certainly not in Pinellas County.
Yes. He has courage. That kind of courage comes from faith and it is sorely lacking in our elected leadership.
Terri's true family can have a memorial service for her family and friends at least.
Terri's body will not be with them, but her spirit will be.
Not even the Judge or the HINO can stop that.
Mel said he's been knocked around so much he just doesn't care anymore how hard they punch him. Good attitude.
The alternative is not particpating in the political system on the grounds that whatever outcome is chosen by the voters makes no practical difference -- only philosophical debating points are truly at stake.
I don't take that view. I think if the masses of Consertives sit on their hands and do not vote they they are agreeing with the other side.
Thankfully, most I have talked with outside of FR.. are even more determined to vote Republican because our Republican party in Congress..... voted to give her a chance. The Judges.. who many are Republican... in name only, along with the choice of Michael Schiavo have caused the final conclusion.
I for one.. will vote.. I will not only vote... I will make my voice heard. I have always done this in my 45 years and I will continure.... to say I give up... is to give in to the others point of view..... that is throwing in the towel, and I have 2 kids who I want better for them than to give up on our judicial system and the right to vote!!!
Judge Pryor did not participate in today's decision. He is recuperating from surgery performed on 3/28/05. In the previous "en banc" decision (to deny an en banc rehearing), last week, Judge Pryor apparently sided with the majority of the court in denying the Schindlers' petition for rehearing en banc.
Who knows waht is going to happen in Florida, but God does and I don't think He is to happy with Florida today!
Many of us are blessed to have husbands that love and care about us. I ache for the women in the world abused mentally and physically by theirs. I told my husbaand the same. I asked him to never starve me to death and he told me I had no need to worry.
And when my kids marry, I will ask them to put our names down as well if something happens to them. It'll only matter if they end up with a spouse from hell. My kids are all teens and have been quite affected by Terri's fight the last two weeks. I'm sure they'll remember this the rest of their lives.
Both Jeb and the President had the power to rescue Terri from the slaughter. Legal or not, they had the power. It is only evil forces that kept them at bay.
I heard that. That's a lesson we should all take from this horror.
Agreed.
That's fine, keep voting Republican and participating. I am just saying that the GOP victories made no difference on a key moral issue here. You might try to vote for some real conservatives in the Republican primaries, if there are any running in your state.
The point you are missing in this is that many of the "conservatives" we've elected are agreeing with the other side.
Perhaps you missed what I posted earlier:
Santorum said today that they do indeed plan to do something about that.
He urged people to contact their House Representatives and urge them to take action against these judges. It needs to start in the House, he said, so that's why we need to contact our Representatives first.
Now that's something WE can do so that they know we have our support.
Well, we just can't let Terri die in vain then.
Thank You and I also respect your opinion.
I would simply defy that order.
What -- will Mikey keep going to visit their own graves one day to make sure Terri is not remembered there with them?
What unmitigated gall.
I hope so. Let's see if talk is cheap or if they mean it. Believe me...I'd love to eat my words. But...Terri will still be dead. They're a little late.
No, they would be "discouraged voters" withdrawing from the process to show their disgust. Remember how the national media talks of "discouraged workers" who are no longer reflected in unemployment statistics. Real Terri supporters may well walk out in the 2006 and 2008 elections. This horror will not be forgotten or ignored as was, say, McCain-Feingold.
After I heard that the 11th refused another appeal, this is what came to mind:
5Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
11And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
KJV, Acts: 12, 5-11

And I understood that if it was God's will, He could send angels to liberate Terri, and take her to a safe place. He could keep her alive without food and water indefinitely. He can do all things.
If she lives or dies, He is in control.
