People who say that the government has no business interfering in a private decision like removing Terri Schiavo's feeding tube somehow have no problem with a squad of policemen preventing her parents (or anyone else) from giving their daughter food or water.
Do those who want to keep the government out of private decisions think that the police are not the government? Do they think that the judges who authorized this are not the government?
Sadly, this is not the only Alice-in-Wonderland confusion of words and deeds in this tragic case.
We are being told that Terri Schiavo is being "allowed" to "die a natural death." Such an argument might make some sense if this were a terminally ill person. But Terri Schiavo is not dying from anything other than a lack of food and water, from which any of the rest of us would die...

One thing that has tugged at my mind since the beginning of this. Pulling the feeding tube is one thing. But to deny the ability of someone (family in this case) from giving her food or liquid by mouth. That in no way can be considered extraordinary. I can't imagine how that can be reconciled with the law, any law.
Everyone should read this.

Proverbs 28:5 "Evil men do not understand justice.."
Yet she has been able to swallow food in the past, after her injury. If you feed, she may choke and die; if you don't feed she will starve and die. It's a very easy choice.
>>Problem is, giving her food and water by mouth will likely choke/drown her, as swallowing is not an autonomic function governed by her brain stem.<<,
Makes you wonder why Gree would even order no food or water by mouth since she cannot shallow.
But doesn't she swallow her saliva? How different is it?
Excellent.
I do not think it was because of the mercy in his heart.
Hopefully we will not have more Greers at the bench though the liberals in the senate are trying their best and so far succeeding at preventing non-leftist Judges an up or down vote. Well, I did my part. I signed the petition and emailed my RINO senators via this website. Pass it on!

Not neccessarily, many have said she has swallowing function. Having personal experience of this with a mother who had a massive stroke, thickened liquids in her case may have been tolerated. But the point is, I see no way how they could have mandated that it could not be done, whether she could handle it or not is a side issue
mine too. when we disconnect a ventilator we don't then cover the person's nose and mouth -- if they can breath on their own so be it
why can't they attempt to feed Terri by mouth...how is it that mouth feeding is not allowed?!
good analogy
yet a farmer in new england was prosecuted this last week for starving his cows. he will, the sheriff promises, serve time for such a heinous deed.
