Just announced:
Just announced on FOX. 6 p.m. They have given Terri the Sacrament of Communion. News reporter is saying that this is the first request that has been granted. True. However, I recall that Judge Greer said he would permit it, when death was imminent. So, I am concerned we might get some additional news. Pray for Terri's soul to be blessed and held in God's loving hands.
If someone can post proof that he has done all of the things he is accused of that are not hearsay, I will stand corrected"
Go back here at FR this last week and read ALL the threads and posts. The information's been given for years, the pages can be shown. You need to do the research and hard study.
And be praying for Terri while you do.
That should be Terri Schindler (schiavo). The name Schiavo should be accursed.
I differ. Not with you but with the poster who said this was commonplace.
Tubes are taken from very very terminally ill patients who cannot tolerate food in their system. They are not removed from medically healthy non terminal patients. The decision to put a tube in relies on the willingness to continue it.
In forty years of being ina medical practice, I have never once seen this happen and I work with geriatrics. It is not common and would be regarded as beyond the pale. Ventilators and antibiotics are stopped and medical interventions such as surgery are stopped. But food and hydration, no. IV's can be used for sustenance and are. Doctors do not starve and dehydrate people to kill them.
More than you think.
And do you think that everyone who receives Holy Communion on their deathbed is able to swallow?
No i think that this woman who is on her deathbed was not given the chance to swollow therefore she is being given her last rights and ordered to die from causes out side of her RIGHT TO LIVE !
She was not Dying before they removed her feeding tube she was not terminal before the tube was removed she was in a hospice controled by the very people who helped condemn her to death
Maybe you beleive she deserves to die i dont know but i do think she deserves at least a shot at living its the very least we can do for her but a judge without a soul has condemned her to death without at least trying for life
And you dont even want to know what i think about the husband !
However, I must take exception to what you have said ... that those who let their loved ones be disconnected from life support are murderers. IMO (and take that for what it's worth, which may be nothing at all), murder is the unnatural taking of life. Life support extends life beyond what would have happened without it. Removing life support is letting the natural course of things proceed and is NOT murder. Withholding nutrition from an otherwise healthy, though incapacitated person, is completely vastly different from removing someone from life support who would not be alive without the medical equipment.
Thank you for replying to him/her. That comment was so bizarre I decided not to take the bait. Plus I knew once I got going I'd have a whole lot to say.
Hearsay was good enuff to kill Terri.
44 Then they also [in their turn] will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
45 And He will reply to them, Solemnly I declare to you, in so far as you failed to do it for the least [in the estimation of men] of these, you failed to do it for Me.
To compare a terminally ill body to that of a handicap body which has not been ravaged by disease is like comparing .......but I think you understand the difference between the two.
Terri was not having trouble breathing before the feeding tube was removed...she probably isn't now either..if this whole process was to be painless and euphoric why the need for morphine at all? IT doesn't pass the smell test.
I wish someone could look into Judge Greer, Felos and MS..the connection of the 3 to one another and find out what kind of cahoots they are really in.
My point is the same. While you may not like the outcome, Greer, as the judge, had the absolute right to determine what evidence could be admitted.
He did not break a law, bend a law, or subvert a law.
He exercised his right as the judge.
I would think it would go without saying that "life support" includes what we would categorize as extraordinary measures.
A feeding tube is under no definition (except Florida's) an extraordinary measure.
agrees
" don't care if he takes vows, Trappist or not, but you don't murder your disabled spouse. If you're a step above common pond scum, you divorce her, give her to your parents, and get on with your life."
Exactly.
Please see my post #209.
Hitler's and Stalin's "judges" were just following the law, too.
Please try to go back over some of the posts with the most info. This is not rocket science. 90 percent of the feepers that are pro Terri are that way because she is not a 98 year old alzheimers Patient that family members that care have said to DNR. If she had a loving, caring spouse that could be trusted we might accept his tale about her not wanting to live this way. Michael Schiavo wants her gone so he can marry his ten year lover. You still never let a loved one that can hear, see, breathe on their own be starved and dehydrated to death.
She had extensive therapy in the early going, when it was likeliest to do any good. It didn't. That included swallow therapy. Do you think they feed people with a feeding tube for the hell of it?
And it doesn't bother you that the judge has that level of discretion? How are we to understand and comply with any standard if a judge can move it at will?
