"Report that two priests were arrested trying to being Holy Communion."

Free Exercize of Religion. If true, he was trying to help defend her Constitutional right. Another legal paradox we must thank Greer and Whittemore for.

To all of the FReepers who have diligently stood outside Terri's door, and parayed and worked so hard...for all who have been aressted in the name of the RIGHT thing to do, for the Sanctity of Life - I sincerely thank you.

From Kentucky, all I could do was, email, pray, email, and pray. Oh, and post to my blog and this wonderful place we call "The Free Republic".

God bless you all, thank you for standing where I could not, and as for you, Terri - have a safe journey Home - Jesus is waiting for you.

We love you, and will NEVER let this country forget. Kimberly

In the Catholic religion, people have an Easter duty to receive communion within a range of time before and after Easter. I think it's 40 days before and after - from the beginning of Lent to the feast of the Ascension.

So, if this woman is Catholic, either she needs to received communion during this time period or she needs some kind of dispensation.

At least, that's how the rules were explained to me many years ago in Catechism class.

Ouch! What brought that on?
Ponder the meaning of this court order.
ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that absent a stay from the appellate
courts, the guardian, Michael Schiavo, shall cause the removal
of nutrition and hydration, from the Ward, THERESA SCHIAVO,
at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2005.

And the marines go in and shoot at Florida state enforcement?

I think people are just angry. The Bushes have done everything possible.

She also recieves the slim Holy Communion wafer in "Last Rites". That was denied the last time they starved her. [World Net Daily Report] I remember hearing Hannity ranting about it several months back. He's also Catholic. FReegards....

I'm sure I am not alone in thinking that I'd never see the day when people would be arrested for wanting to save someone from starvation. I feel like I'm living in an episode of The Twighlight Zone.

It's one thing for Judge Greer to condemn her body to death, but to condemn her soul to hell should be considered reaching beyond his powers.

I don't know how much power you think Greer has, but he certainly doesn't have power over anyone's soul but his own.

Believe it or not, Terri did not go to church often, and 15 years ago the Judge wanted to speak with her religious adviser to gain insight into Terri's wishes, but her parents could produce no such person.

To say the Judge is condemning her to hell, is overstating things a bit. God has the final say, I do not know of any religion that leaves it up to a Florida judge.

What about the governor declaring a 'state of emergency'?

We've been holding a lively discussion about that possibility here, from post 61 on down. It was suggested on the previous page of the thread, and appears to have martial law powers that could prevent a gunfight between local and state police:

I don't understand the resentment towards the Bush's .

Emotions can make people irrational. I saw someone blame Ann Coulter for Terri's situation on one of these threads a few days ago.

Wow, I've been a Catholic all of my life. I guess the way I read your post was if Terri doesn't recieve communion today on Easter, that her soul is condemned to hell... I am hopeful I misinterpreted that being that frankly Terri has no choice in this matter and the God I've come to know and love would never punish in that manner.

By the way, so there is no mistake.... this is NOT an attacking post :-) Kinda sad that I need to say that, right? Lately, it's been harder to interpret legitimate exchanges between FReepers.

Happy Easter, FRiend

Why - because they are on the same starvation diet?
(just kidding)

"I don't know how much power you think Greer has, but he certainly doesn't have power over anyone's soul but his own." -- alnick

I used to be a Catholic. This much I know: Catholics take Holy Communion VERY seriously. Some do believe that only the 'Bread of Life' can take them to heavan. It is their religious right to believe it, even though I also look at religion more spiritually. It is deep in their religion, and we can't justify the law by preaching to them. This is America.

FReegards....

Ouch! What brought that on?

Excessive emotionalism, with a dash of irrationality and a smidgen of self-righteous hysteria.
