This morning two of the main leaders of Terri's fight were arrested. We have been at the Hospice since early Thursday morning.
We helped bail out strangers that made the personal decision to face jail because of the unjust laws and judicial decisions in this case.
We are sitting in our hotel room and just saw two of the leaders get taken to jail. It was the first time I've cried since I've been here.
The people at the vigil are various individuals and groups of caring people from all over America trying to work together to make a difference. You don't see the big names here, just the little people. They could use the support from others that are so affected by Terri and her family's suffering.
I don't even know all the main groups involved, but I did have the opportunity to meet these two pastors that were arrested today. I don't even have the name of one of the pastors. One was Chet Gallagher of OperationSaveAmerica -- www.operationsaveamerica.org
Last night before we left, we got to shake Mr. Schindler's hand. Afterwards my husband said it was more of an honor to shake Mr.Schindler's hand than it would have been to shake Pres. Bush or Gov. Bush's hand.

You know nothing about Catholicism. We are not some guru group who has spititual advisors. We have PRIESTS.
You didn't answer my ORIGINAL question....Proof please.
Thank you for doing what you could. You are a hero.

Yes she did. I believe Michael and the Judge caved in to public demonstrations, and allowed one drop of fluid to touch her lips, even though they thought it might choke her to death. The court order specified it had to be done by Tube.
No fooling Priests eh?
I never would of guessed that in a million years.
How long has the Catholic Church had these PRIESTS?
I recall a television show about a Nun who could fly, do you know any nuns who can fly?
You are right I know nothing about Catholicism.
I know nothing of indulgences, of praying to Mary or thru Mary or any host of Saints or icons, I am confused about purgatory, I have no clue to whom Martian Luther was, I never heard of the Pope having his enemies burned at the stake, I thought a Cardinal was a bird.
You are absolutely correct, I know nothing of Catholicism.
For the umpteenth time --- THE TERM "SPIRITUAL ADVISOR" IS A GENERIC TERM THAT MEANS SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST, FROM WHAT EVER RELIGION YOU PARTICAPITE IN! IT IS A GENERIC TERM!
For the record I do not hate Catholics, I admire them when they stand up for their beliefs, and I wish them good in dealing with the lawsuits and attacks they are facing. I recognize that those attacking the Catholic Church are really attacking all of Christianity.
Catholics don't use Generic Terms.....period. Maybe Protestants do....maybe Jews do...maybe Muslims do....maybe Hindus do. Catholics don't...we use the "term" Priests.
The testimony in this case establishes that Theresa was very young and very healthy when this tragedy struck. Like many young people without children, she had not prepared a will, much less a living will. She had been raised in the Catholic faith, but did not regularly attend mass or have a religious advisor who could assist the court in weighing her religious attitudes about life-support methods. Her statements to her friends and family about the dying process were few and they were oral. Nevertheless, those statements, along with other evidence about Theresa, gave the trial court a sufficient basis to make this decision for her.
******************************
Catholics don't use Generic Terms.....period.
Gospels and Letters are generic terms for certain books of the Bible.
No Catholic would ever refer to a Priest with a generic Father. EVER ... and Period!
Geesh...that's the AUTHOR of the piece's words. I tell you, as a cradle Catholic, knowing many, many, many priests, I have NEVER heard the term Spitiual Advisor. You are proving my point....Terri didn't have a "spitiual advisor" because we don't have such things.
If you tell a lie long enough, people start to believe it, sad.
If you had a leaky pipe you would call your "Plumbing Adviser" aka your Plumber.
If your cable TV is on the fritz you can call your "Communications Adviser" aka the Cable Guy.
If your washing machine is making a screeching noise, you can call your "Appliance Adviser" aka the Maytag Man.
If your moral guidance needs a lift, you can call your "Spiritual Ad visor" aka your Priest.
There is nothing wrong with thinking of your Priest as a spiritual adviser, even if you do not see the term on his name tag. You can call him what ever you are comfortable with calling him, and hopefully will not mind.
In Terri's case the record shows that no one was brought in to testify regarding what was known about her religious opinions. You think her parents would of had the Pope show up!
In all seriousness, I would seriously recommend you read the time line I linked to. Most people don't realize that Michael spent the first 5 years caring for her, taking her to clinics in California doing everything possible to save her, only after he was convinced by CAT scans, did he realize further effort would not help, part of her brain was simply gone. He had spent more time with her during the first 5 years than any other visitor. This shows he did care, and is not the Satin some call him. Anyway read the time lines, you seem like a nice person and I don't want to get in a bad argument with you.
Michael was in the process of suing for millions to get money to care for Terri for her natural lifespan of 45-50 years...his testimony.....but as soon as the money came thru, he remembered that she said she wouldn't want to live and he started trying to kill her with a court order. He was NOT a loving husband for very long and he didn't take "for better or worse" ver seriously.
Is your name Jody...soon to be Schiavo?
Adviser does not mean wiggle room, a Priest's advice could very well be to follow the rules if you want to be a SERIOUS Catholic.
Since you're a SERIOUS Catholic and know all the rules I'm sure you could preform an exorcism with out any advice on the proper "chants" to recite.
I think you are so wound up in this issue that you want things to be a certain way so badly that you're blinded to the fact that reality may be different.
Look how the Judge in this case is equated to Hitler, and is subjected to death threats. For what? Being called on to settle a dispute, and acknowledging the bitter truth that some poor woman's brain has ceased to function, parts have been replaced with fluids, and no one has ever recovered from this situation?
Read the time line and the facts presented in this case, it might very well give you a reason to pause and reconsider what is going on.
Just for kicks, knowing you already know all the rules, ask your Priest if he has ever given anyone spiritual advice, if he says no, you win!
Jody, soon to be the new Mrs. Schiavo, you are an IDIOT. Don't answer me again.
George Greer cannot condemn anyone's soul to hell. Aside from the other problems I have with the concept, I think even Catholics would agree that God doesn't hold a profoundly disabled woman accountable for not taking a communion wafer on Easter Sunday, or whatever it is you're concerned about.
