I think this Terri Schiavo affair will come back to bite Jeb Bush.

Jeb is more cautious like his father, and certainly not as bold as his brother. Jeb is beginning to look like Jimmy Carter giving excuses for failure instead of acting on principles for success.

What Jeb should be doing is saving a dying woman first, and worrying about the consequences later. That's leadership. At this point I can't see Jeb as presidential material.

But, as in chess, you need to look several moves ahead.

Suppose Jeb did go in and save Terri, than the FL Courts would convict him of contempt of court, of overstepping his authority and a dozen other charges, would arrest and convict him and of course grab Terri and pull out the feeding tube again. Terri would still be murdered, and we would lose a great Republican governor and potential president.

I am sure Jeb did look at all the possible legal actions he could take, it's just that over the years, the power of the executive branch has been clipped severely and the power of the judiciary branch has become virtually absolute -- both in state and Federal governments.

do you remember that the reason Terri didn't die in 2003 when they took away her food and water - was because Jeb got an emergency bill passed in the legislature - "Terri's Bill" and got the tube put back on the 6th day. (the media and all the those (you?) that are blasting him now, crucified him then for "grandstanding" and "interfering" etc.

Since then, the judge ruled the law unconstitutional. So Jeb tried to get another one thru this time. It was voted down. And because the lawyers and judge knew Jeb would likely try to save Terri this time too, they had all there legal blocks lined up and ready...wouldn't doubt they even threatened area hospitals where the state would likely take her for re-hydration - why else would that damnable hospital call and warn the judge! something fishy there... With the libs and non-thinking people, he can't win.

News Bulletin: the bad guys are michael, Felos and the pack of hyena judges.
