After Defeats Schiavo Parents Tell Supporters Go Home
AP - Yahoo ^ | March 26, 2005 | Jane Sutton

Bob and Mary Schindler, both practicing Catholics, urged dozens of supporters gathered outside the Florida hospice where Schiavo is being cared for to go home for Easter.

"The family would request that everyone go home, be with your children, hold them close and share every moment you have with them," said Brother Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who is a spiritual adviser to the Schindlers.

It was not clear if the Schindlers had finally abandoned all legal avenues in their fight to restart their 41-year-old daughter's feeding, a cause that embroiled the Florida legislature, the U.S. Congress and President Bush.

"He's probably got his e-mail set up to BLOCK anything anywhere remotely related to Terri or her family."

I found a way around that, by using this "Subject" line in my Emails:

GEORGE GREER INVITES YOU AND THE MISSUS TO EASTER BRUNCH TOMORROW!

That should insure that he reads it.

(sarcasm on)

Michael Savage has been brilliant this week.
He's spoken the truth about Jeb.
Jeb you are a disgrace.
Your to spinless to send in state troopers to save an innocent woman.
Those are the facts people.
That is the bottom line.

If you don't mind my asking: what exactly is your goal in posting on the Schiavo threads? I see many distraught folks venting their frustration while I see you attempting to inject humor or debate obviously emotional responses.

Well, I have the right, thanks to JimRob, to participate in the debates of this issue on this forum, just like anyone else here. While the issue is emotional for everyone, there are also bigger issues that need debating that are part of this. < shrugs shoulders >

As for myself, I'll be saying a prayer for Terri and her family. And if you're a prayerful man I hope you'll do the same.

I have, daily.

Take care and have a blessed Easter.

You, too.

Yanking feeding tubes to deliberately starve a disabled person to death? I don't believe it.

And now the zinger. Would Muslims do this to their own relatives?

Probably not, but I'm not a lawyer. I did, however, stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Okay, so it's not a crime if a judge orders it.

Why does a judge have the authority to do and order things prohibited by statute, but the governor and legislature can't disobey a court order? So much for three separate and equal branches of government.

An innocent woman is being starved to death and he does nothing.

He's =done far more, and for far longer, than you. Even the Schindlers acknowledge that.

Maybe you meant to say "An innocent woman is being starved to death and he does nothing illegal or outside of the scope of his office" perhaps?

People are sad and disappointed. What good will come from confronting them?

I just went back and re-read this thread, with special attention to Chad Fairbanks.

Out of all the posters here, which would you recommend to someone as 'best representing what Free Republic is about'? To be honest, a lot of what is being said about this topic is embarrassing and often scary. I say this as someone who thinks that injustice is being done.

Chad isn't doing anything but acting like a voice of reason. That doesn't warrant insinuations that he is 'up to something'.

Not common in TX for sure. Don't know a doctor or hospital that would even consider this. Also even with terminal dying person, always have IV fluids continually until death. Do these hospice places not have ethics committees? Also are they accredited by the states, anyone know?

You are correct, and that is something we need to rectify. But, not with violence or other illegalities. It will take hard work, and a lot of time, but in theory it could be done, if we are willing to try.

You may want him to be left defenseless so he can be killed easier as some form of moral retribution, but thankfully our nation is still a nation of laws, and not a theocracy where those deemed guilty in the eyes of the righteous are fair game.

Violation of equal protection. Disabled woman gets murdered. Judge gets US Marshals. Only the ruling class is entitled to police protection now?

that is your definition and has no basis in fact except for what you believe it to be.....it is only a fact of your moral judgment. If you feel the law is not applied fairly then fine, but judging others as to their "contentment" involves and order of mind reading you are not prepared to make

Fine, we have stayed true to our principles- but in so doing, we've not only suffered a major defeat in our War (Bush 43% approval)- but we are leaving Terri behind on a battlefield of our creation

Well said. But it did allow Randall Terry to feel important again as he turned off virtually every thinking person in the country. Also a lot of people seem happy that they were able to show how tough they are from behind a keyboard as they ordered the Bush brothers into combat and threatened every judge whose decision they disagreed with.

I have lost so much respect for Gov. Bush....

I do not think he had any idea what he was going to lose because he stood down.

I think he thinks because he's republican that it'll be swept under the rug...as the only other side in the battle are the democrats.

I told my husband, I'd rather let a wolf in the front door than an wolf in sheep's clothing in the back door.

I want to be able to identify the person who will cause me and mine harm.

My heavenly Father, grace Terri with your kingdom. I prayed for her like I have never prayed before. Dear Jesus, If I may ask of you, please send the Angel Michael down here to fix things that are broken. Satan has been back again and evil is ongoing in our land.

Good question. However, maybe it's just me and my crazy talk, but what possible good could come out of bloodshed in Terri's, or God's name? How would that help Terri? How would that help our republic? How would that help the pro-life cause?
