Living will (advanced medical directives, powers of attorney, and etc.) will all be meaningless when society decides that a judge will be the final arbiter in whether we live or die.

I remember when the "living will" thing came up in the early '90s. We were told NOT to fill one out because it would be used against us. Up till then, it was common belief that doctors, et al, would do everything they could to save your life...unless you wrote down otherwise.
The Hemlock society must be partying hard this weekend. Hope none of their cohorts puts arsenic in their martinis while they're "celebrating"...
