He is the one who chose to simply ignore the law that Congress had passed and treat the case like any other appeal, not like the new case that Congress had intended.

Which is why I'm not sure that passing a new law, as some have suggested, is the way to deal with matters like this. I think we've got the laws on the books--far too many of them, really--but our judges haven't got the sense God gave a mouse.

Not only that, but the judiciary has clearly gone beyond its mandate to interpret the law and has begun to write it (or ask that it be written, as in the case of Massachusetts and gay marriage). So I don't think a new law or two is the answer. I think a massive "throw the bums out" action is.

I remember Barbara Weller having a press conference about this the day it happened. I also read her blog on this, written up a day or two later. Since then, they've had not one, but two opportunities to present this evidence to a federal judge who needed a reason to give the Schindlers a de novo hearing, but they failed to do so--it wasn't as though the Schindler's lawyers were unaware of this evidence, considering Barbara Weller IS one of the Schindler's lawyers. It's inexplicable as to why they brought this before Greer in state court, given their series of losses before him. It's truly bad lawyering on the part of the Schindler's lawyers.

I am a believer in miracles and of a great and gracious God. I am also partial to the saying "Ordinarily, God works in ordinary ways".
I have very grave doubts that "the people involved--from MS to Greer to the FL leg. to Gov. Jeb were or so will be attuned to God's will. Jeb as a Catholic who has received solid advice on this case for years should have got this headed off a long time ago. Judge Greer, & MS, needed some real looking into and in no way should either one of them be determining Terri's fate a this point. So God would ordinarily have taken care of this by now. But people failed to listen. I don't think we can say, if Terri soon expires, that it was God's will. Not by a long shot. And I don't think we should expect an extraordinary miracle.

Since state sponsored murder is not enough to move you to resistance, what is?I am curious just how far down the slippery slope good Republicans are wiling to go before deciding that they have had enough. How about making it illegal to speak unPC words (done)? How about state sponcered theft of private property without due process(done)? How about state sponcered illegal searchers (done). How about taxes so high that even the "rich" are forced to live paycheck to paycheck (done). How about letting one million criminal alleins invade the country every year (done). So tell me good republican what does it take to get you to put down the kool-aid and take a good hard look at the Grand Old Party.

Hey, I've never been shy about pointing out failures in the GOP... Especially on the likes of illegal immigration, the war on drugs and the rights that removes etc...

However, I honestly don't think we've reached the point where advocating violence is the right answer.

Well the Florida law the Judge was bound was never written to take into account that the proxy (in this case the husband) might be an ass. The Republicans pushed the marriage is sacred thing and created a situation where the spouse becomes dictator. That is part the real hypocrisy in this - especially the part where the Repubs violated the State's rights they always championed. That is why they are going after the courts/judicial activism angle because the fault in this is with the Repubs who wrote these laws. I never knew the Texas law on this signed by then Gov Bush was even more harsh - and even allowing plugs to be pulled if the next of kin wanted them in based on the ability to pay. That is disgusting to me in a way. That is why the Repubs leadership bailed like rats on a sinking ship. Especially after they cut Medicaid and malpractice (how Terri was able to survive this long) - and made bankruptcy harder ensuring even more plugs will be pulled in the future.

And wait till the left throw the culture of life back at us - culture of life? Why cut Medicaid health care (Terri was using)? Why make bankruptcy harder (most cases are due to medial bills), My make malpractice cases harder (Terri would probably not have won her case under new Repup rules), you are against abortion but make no provisions for infant health care, etc. This has opened up a socialist nanny state nightmare I can not see Social Conservatives able to fight off unless they one up the Dems.

Wait for the next proposal - national health insurance from conception till the age of 18 - How will Social Conservatives rise against that proposal? Pro fetus - anti-child care?

I've seen several times in different threads that Michael hasn't allowed pictures or tapes of Terri for years. There is no tape.

We can't help Terri now but please look at this thread as to the participation of Felos, Greer and all in creation of the laws allowing this to happen. One of our posters has done extensive investigative work.

Roe V Wade survived Reagan twice, Bush the first, Bush the second, and still going. It would have been better for Reagan, Bush the first, and Bush the second to have worked on the issues that concerned the American nation. Wait a minuite. About this "plea" from Teri. Her parents have a video camera set up in her room. it's not on tape, only her crazt lawyer supposedly heard this. Keep facts seperate from fiction. If it really happened, there would be a tape of it.

I haven't read Greer's opinion from this afternoon, but if I understand, the allegation that Terri spoke on the 18th is being excluded because the allegation wasn't made in a timely fashion.
