In schools in the US (especially on the University level), we only hear that the Shah was a bad guy. In one of my grad classes, a prof assigned a book that paints the Shah as being repressive. The same book is silent when it comes to the Ayatollah Khomeni's actions (the book paints him as a "man of the people").
