Hours after a judge ordered that Terri Schiavo was not to be removed from her hospice, a team of state agents were en route to seize her and have her feeding tube reinserted -- but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge's order, The Herald has learned.
Agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told police in Pinellas Park, the small town where Schiavo lies at Hospice Woodside, on Thursday that they were on the way to take her to a hospital to resume her feeding.
For a brief period, local police, who have officers at the hospice to keep protesters out, prepared for what sources called ``a showdown.''
In the end, the squad from the FDLE and the Department of Children & Families backed down, apparently concerned about confronting local police outside the hospice.
''We told them that unless they had the judge with them when they came, they were not going to get in,'' said a source with the local police.
''The FDLE called to say they were en route to the scene,'' said an official with the city police who requested anonymity. ``When the sheriff's department and our department told them they could not enforce their order, they backed off.''
The incident, known only to a few and related to The Herald by three different sources involved in Thursday's events, underscores the intense emotion and murky legal terrain that the Schiavo case has created. It also shows that agencies answering directly to Gov. Jeb Bush had planned to use a wrinkle in Florida law that would have allowed them to legally get around the judge's order. The exception in the law allows public agencies to freeze a judge's order whenever an agency appeals it.

Evil Christians? Where do you get that from? You're right, with people like you around, I'm definitely going to get out there and vote, because I don't want your Sharia style laws running my life.
Really. Evil Christians. Where in my posts did you read that? Thriving on persecution, eh?
So you think it's okay that a small-time regional judge can command police now, with greater authority then the governor? Take Terri Schiavo out of the equation, and this is a huge disaster that can change the fabric of our government.
LOL I would suggest you review the Roe v Wade judicial decision -there is no abortion amendment.
Sadly, you have it exactly right.
"Oh am I making the pro death crowd unconfortable, poor babies."
How far are you told to take your 'pro-life' belief? Does being 'pro-life' mean you have the authority to take a life?
TO ALL:
No good can come from debating religion on a thread like this.
I am just attempting to humorously characterize you sweeping statements. If I felt you were intentionally spewing anti-Christian statements I would hit the abuse button. How should I accurately characterize your sweeping statements?
Amen, bro. What would have killed any future Bush candidacy for whatever would have been sending law enforcement officers into a deadly firefight.
Judge Greer will have to live with Terri's blood all over his robe for as long as he lives, but if any cops died on Jeb's word, this would stop being the Terri Schiavo case and it would become the Jeb Bush Poor Leadership Scandal.
one does not need to be too bright or highly educated to know that starving to death a helpless woman is just plane wrong.
In the forlorn hope that you might read this,
What we are witnessing is the definition of the end of life event. The pro death crowd was able to define the beginning of life as birth, thereby legalizing abortion since the unborn where not really "people". Now they are attempting to define helpless as not really "people" too. If they are allowed to get away with this we can expect many many more Terry. But according to the pro death crowd those of us that oppose them are just crazy right wing Christan's.
Well -there are some people that simply believe that removing food and water is euthanasia/murder. That is the issue here -you can attempt to suggest the issue is religion gone wacko but it is not...
The US Constitution is worth nothing if there are people that are allowed to interpret it (judiciary) to say that it allows the slow execution by starvation of an innocent helpless woman.
So you have a choice, here, either you rip it up and start again or you figure a way to say to the judiciary, the constitution does not mean that, here that's what it means
(legislative).
But then again the interpreter says I don't like what you say it says (Congress nullification), then you have to say to the interpreter either I won't listen to you, and you can go kill her yourself ,with no one to help you do it (Andrew Jackson) or you say to the interpreter you have to leave (impeachment).
This is the structure of the Constitution,.
Nobody here wants to impose a biblical government, but the structure is worthless if one of its parts decides to ignore the main reson we created the said structure in the first place.
So my feeling is that there are are a lot of lawyers in Florida tonight (and for as long as Terri lives) who are trying to find a way to help JB tell the judiciary we wont let her be executed without bringing down the whole structure.
If she dies, the structure will have been protected but the Constitution will have been severely undermined.
If JB takes her out of there, the Constitution actually means something, but the building will be shaking for a long time.
See tagline.
Just a question though How will they save the next "one woman".
PLease consider that the next one might well be you.

You position is not wrong, however, your method is not the example Christ set.
You are suppose to be setting the example and acting like the death crowd by demanding police action, calling names, condemning ones to hell, makes you look liberal.
The Heavenly Father is in control and HE did not advocate mob rule.
We have a method of setting things right and that is at the ballot box. Do you really think the Heavenly Father is ignoring what is taking place, no it was foretold it would happen and Christian are not to act like liberals.
Those children who attempted to give water to her are hostages. Oh, I love the Patton picture. A Patton is needed now.
No it won't.
#1: I am not married, and my family already knows the way I feel about being in a situation like Terri's.
#2: I am not a woman.
It's true. It's also infuriating.
IF You don't know why he destroyed the world of men with the Flood? Then you are not qualified to discuss anything biblical, and frankly chritian principles since Jesus came to fulfill the Scriptures and not to change one letter of it.
Clue as to the WRATH OF GOD: men were evil in their ways, like starving innocent helpless women to death no doubt.
Please feel free to ask God to justify himself regarding the flood, when you meet him.
AS you profess to be Christian, then you must believe that you will get that opportunity. In turn God will be able to ask you and all of us to justify ourselves, when HE says,When I was thirsty did you give ME water?
For those who truly believe that they will have to answer that question to GOD on that day, what is happening right now is a seminal moment with "eternal consequences".
For those who don't really believe in the day of reckoning, or haven't thought about it too much the import is much less and that's why there is a big difference of opinion about what JB must do as he seems to be Terri's last hope for life.
Well unfortunately that will not work for two reasons. First, our leaders, in this case Jeb Bush and George Bush will not rally the troops to the cause. They could, and they would receive huge support but they are going to wash their hands and walk away, so there will be no political leadership, just another brick in the wall.
Secondly the courts would over turn any pro-life laws the legistrature passed. The courts are now all powerful and will not tolerate any attempts a usurping that power.
So sadly without leadership and facing all powerful courts there is not much to be done. Except drink heavily.
Interesting to note that Bush's approval rating is droping like a rock. Wait till Terry dies his approval rating will be single digit and stay there till his term is up. I think this will be the issue that splits the GOP base.
