Bush ought to show up with his cops and take her out of there. As it is he will be nothing in history. Forgotten. But if he did rescue her he'd be a hero. And remembered.

Governor Bush has said that he wants the people to know that he has no power to save Terri Schiavo's life, that he has used up all his options.

Does this cowardly statement remind anyone else of what another governor said about 2,000 years ago regarding the life of another innocent Victim? How hauntingly paradoxical that the Governor should issue this proclamation on Good Friday.

On the other hand, if Jesus wasn't crucified by Pilate, we would have no hope of living with God for eternity in heaven.

I think Governor Bush is doing the responsible thing here, but I was shaken by the parallel you pointed out between Pontious Pilate denying complicity in Jesus' execution and Governor Bush being forced to make this pronouncement on Good Friday.

Still, I do think it likely that Terri Schiavo would not have chosen to be kept alive indefinitely with no hope of recovery. It's a very difficult, tragic situation.

"On the other hand, if Jesus wasn't crucified by Pilate, we would have no hope of living with God for eternity in heaven."

Very true. But Jesus is the Redeemer, the Son of God. Terri Schiavo is His innocent little creature, of whose murder only brings condemnation, not salvation, down upon those who perpetrate it and possibly our whole nation.

I've thought the same thing. Envisioned Jeb Bush washing his hands at a press conference. Why can't he intervene? I've heard small snippets - but no real explanation.

I guess years ago he DID order the tube put back in after the courts said to pull it. Did the courts later rule that the reinsertion was unconstitutional? If so - perhaps that is why his hands are tied - he would knowingly be doing something that had been ruled (by the "courts") unconstitutional.

And what about the last minute call from the Governor for executions? Do they have the legal right to actually pardon the prisoner - or are the just "staying" the execution so it can be reviewed legally again.

Who is this Jeb Bush to whom you're referring? The name doesn't ring a bell.

He could always claim that new evidence has surfaced since that old ruling. Or he could just go in and resuce Terri and worry about himself later, like men used to do so long ago.

No Power?....nope...just lack of what it takes to do the right thing under God's law..

God's character..

imo
