Schiavo father: 'Down to her last hours'
CNN ^ | March 25, 2005

PINELLAS PARK, Florida (CNN) -- The father of Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged woman whose feeding tube was removed a week ago, said Friday his daughter is "down to her last hours."

Bob Schindler, Schiavo's father, said, "Terri is weakening. ... Something has to be done, and has to be done quick."

Schindler said the family's hopes lie with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia, which is hearing -- for the second time this week -- an appeal claiming Schiavo's due process rights have been violated.

Schiavo is in her seventh day without food or water since Pinellas County Circuit Judge George Greer ordered the tube removed for the third time.

The case is again in the federal appeals court, where a three-judge panel will rule on the motion filed by attorneys for Schiavo's parents.

The country backs the decision.

I'm sure all of those housewives answering your precious ABC News push-polls will be rushing out onto the battlefields to join you in your "Kill the Weak" jihad. And their husbands will be right behind them... just as soon as Survivor is over.

conservative"..."fanatics"..."downplayed the institution of marriage"

Okay just feed her normal then. Geeish. I can't understand why people are so dense. There is a ban on anything being orally put in her mouth. It appears to me a way to legally murder, legally withholding food/water orally.

It is Judicial murder by a murder of Judges. It is conspiracy and treason, too.

Don't care how he relieves himself sexually, it doesn't condone his actions in this.

If Congress does not arrest Greer, followed by his impeachment and removal in the Florida
then America is will have moved a major step along the road to evil.

You know, I've always had trouble pronouncing that last word. Not enough tequila, I guess.

How about this to make you crazy - Florida law states that a "feeding tube" is considered life support (want the link?). Secondly, she can not chew food or swallow water given her. Evidence of such an ability would mean she is not in a PVS. All parents needed to prove their case ws to have had her chew a cookie in her mouth or sip water from a spoon. Water dribbled into her mouth where natural reflexes take over is not evidence of swallowing.

I don't know why more people aren't concerned about this precedent. The judges have created case law that makes it legal for a judge, or a husband/wife, to order a person not be fed or given water - forget the feeding tube. Could this not eventually be used, with the help of a few more Terri's, to deny food and water to the severely handicapped who "would really want to die if they could talk". We're making euthanasia by starvation a possibility. I don't understand those who are more concerned that we honor the unanimity of these judges opinions.

I think the scariest apect of this case is that this woman is being killed based on hearsay.

No, the scariest thing is that so many people are comfortable with that. The scariest thing is that so many keep repeating "but it's the law" with no regard to the morality of what we are doing.
-------- EXACTLY

You can't 'forget the feeding tube' - people who can drin and eat food can never be in such a position.

Then chage the law to say that only written evidence is required for such a condition - a provision by the way that does not exist in any of the 50 states - allowing the next of kin to make the decision is the dominant view.

There was testimony by two nurses who fed her jello and had her drink juice. Whoops, forgot that nugget hu? Several doctors have also said she can swallow liquids just as she swallows her saliva. Give her some Ensure for crap sake. You just really really want her to die no matter what don't you. It's really pretty creepy. Would you even be against letting them try to have her drink water. If you would, it isn't facts driving your push for death by starvation.

You are going to bring our cuase down. Mainstream American which votes conservative will be turned off by this silly ideology on this thread and low and behold.

If mainstream America thinks it's okay for a judge to prohibit anyone including the President of the United States from putting food or water into the mouth of a starving disabled woman then I'm glad to be "out of the mainstream".

I'm stunned that you can't see the comparison to Pfannmuller 's Hungerhauser.

The feeding tube was inserted by judicial order dingdong. Mikey went to court to have it inserted. It wasn't ordered by a doctor, but by a court. While they were in court she did just fine. Imagine that!

Yea, it is a nugget - those two nurses NEVER testified - why? They make good radio but are not reliable witnesses or the parents' lawyers would have called on them to do so - Actually one nurse took out a sworn affidavit - which the parent's lawyers NEVER submitted. Facts trump rumors.
