Schiavo father: 'Down to her last hours'
CNN ^ | March 25, 2005

Posted on 03/25/2005 10:26:51 AM PST by RWR8189

PINELLAS PARK, Florida (CNN) -- The father of Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged woman whose feeding tube was removed a week ago, said Friday his daughter is "down to her last hours."

Bob Schindler, Schiavo's father, said, "Terri is weakening. ... Something has to be done, and has to be done quick."

Schindler said the family's hopes lie with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia, which is hearing -- for the second time this week -- an appeal claiming Schiavo's due process rights have been violated.

Schiavo is in her seventh day without food or water since Pinellas County Circuit Judge George Greer ordered the tube removed for the third time.

The case is again in the federal appeals court, where a three-judge panel will rule on the motion filed by attorneys for Schiavo's parents.

Well even the Nazis were smart enough not to allow cameras.
You think Judge Greer isn't up to the job? From what I've heard they practically do a strip search of the family before they go to the room.

You can be sure a camera will get no where near that room.

Obviously Laz is the psychotic one, not you.

Dude. Pill, chill: 500 IU. Take once per day.

The post is part of a set of rantings I collected from someone named Kansan1225 a long time ago. The FR poster that goes by the name Truth666 has been unraveling lately, so when he posted some weird tin-foil-y thing, I let him have it with double-barreled tin-foil, alrighty. :o)

Free Republic was created to try to stem the tide and perhaps return the country to what it should be

That's a great goal and FR is terrific. But those of us who suggest any dramatic change to the status quo often find our posts deleted.

"let's just say for the sake of argument, that Michael Shiavo DROPPED DEAD right this minute"

I'm pretty sure nothing new would happen, because the courts already decided Terri wants to die, largely based on his previous testimony. I really thing the de neuvo review allowing a fresh look at all available evidence was Terri's best chance.

It is medically outrageous to have withheld both PET and MRI.

The Judicial Mullah Greer has made his Hospice-Board Member wife wealthy,
and he has made the Hospice ex Board leader (the lawyer for MS)weathly
but he has wounded America's image at home and abroad for years.
Also, morally, Greer does not have the right to 'Kopechne' anyone for money.

Judgenfuhrer Greer: "On your knees or die."

By that reasoning, how many 13 lines are there in the nation? How many 13 intersections? Billions? Why you use arc minutes but not seconds?

If you cannot see the logic behind it all, you must be a CLuM.

The people who are saying 100% consistent judicial rulings are proof that killing Terri is the right thing to do forget that courts unanimously ruled that black people were 3/4th of a human, too. They all agreed on that, so do you believe it should have been accepted and allowed to stand in this country. I'm glad the people of the civil rights movement disagreed with your view of the judiciary. They've been unanimously wrong on many many things before. The difference was, the executive branch (we the people), had some power then to stop them.

>>It's become an exceedingly dangerous place to end up in the hospital if you haven't a family that's willing to watch the doctors like a hawk and question every single move they make.<<<

YES!!

I was listening to an AMA journal article being recited on the radio about how care givers in certain situations often take it on their own to over dose a patient. You know to help them go "peacefully" instead of suffering.
I think the stat was 1 in 5 nurses have done this at some point in their career.

YIKES!!

Hmmm. Schiavo means "slave" in Italian.

Well thank you, but I think Laz needs me more what with his psychosis.

Seriously, if all our voices were lowered and everyone quit calling each other names, I think we could have serious discussions of this. Surely this whole thing is horrific and shouldn't be happening. But the hyperbole gets in the way. And the accusations. It is so very much like a long bitter family feud.

I guess I am interested in the courts but more interested in the human story here. It is truly a family feud with deadly consequences. And terrible consequences. And the court is just sort of keeping things in the law so they don't start shooting at each other.

This case is a sensation because it is quite the opposite of what we are.

I wish I could agree, but America has been drifting slowly from it's life-respecting ideal for a while now. I used to scoff when I heard the Conservatives tell us that unfettered abortion would cheapen life and eventually get us to this point.

I no longer scoff.

" The next thing these people will try to do is euthanize the Pope. Just watch -- it will be suggested."

I have no doubt you will hear it suggested if you listen to all the MSM constantly till his final demise.

No, the scariest thing is that so many people are comfortable with that. The scariest thing is that so many keep repeating "but it's the law" with no regard to the morality of what we are doing.

I pray the Lord takes Terri soon.... this nightmare has to end for her. And that He hold her parents close. The helpless rage and agony they are going through, I would never wish on my worst enemy.

Well help who needs help the most. But the reality here is that people are outraged by this travesty of justice as no justice is to be found for this poor disabled woman.

Better a civil war than the enslavement of man. How many people died in our Civil War under just such a notion?
