More than a tradition
2005-03-25, 11:38
Eighty eight per cent of Poles are to attend a mass during Easter.
According to a poll by the OBOP Institute, 74 per cent of the respondents will go to confession and 87 per cent observe fasting on Good Friday. The survey shows that almost all Poles observe the tradition of blessing the food for Easter breakfast but there has been a slight fall in the number of people participating in spiritual retreats during Lent and attending the early morning Resurrection mass on Easter.
Wesolego Alleluja!
I mokrego dyngusa!
very heartening to know that the faith is still strong on the continent of Europe, especially outside of "Old Europe." Several years ago, my husband-to-be began his conversion to Catholicism while in Poland, inspired by the piety of Polish children praying in Czestochowa.
Best wishes for a blessed Wielkanoc to all!
Keep up the good work.
God bless the Poles. The rest of the world's certainly given them a raw deal.
Happy Easter to everybody else in the world, too.
ping.
Poles have the coolest traditions. Can you explain to me the origin of smigus-dyngus? I understand it's where boys drench the girls with water, but I know much more than that.
I mean, I don't know much more than that.
