Yes, this is what happens after days without sleep, and not eating much, either by accident, or by design (such as today on Good Friday) over matters of life and death, or justice.

We can get that way, granted.

Yep. If I had a dollar for every time I saw a FReeper saying "you're now on my list" to another FReeper....geesh! Lots of lists being kept around here. I, for one, don't have the time to hold grudges! LOL

Yeah, I think it needs to apply only in cases of terminal illness. If the law argues that a combination of permanent coma or PVS combined with the need for permanent artificial life support defines terminal illness, and if a feeding tube is to be defined as artificial life support, then I believe that absent written directives by the patient we must err on the side of life. It was notable to me that Judge Greer's order regarding Terri required the withholding of sustenance and hydration, not just the removal of the feeding tube.

won't listen until he shuts the hell up about Terri Freaking Schiavo!

If some of you people are tired of listening and talking about Terri, why come on threads about her? I can never figure that one out.

I know, I know. But I am still working so I'm productive, sort of. My sister and brother died in FL! You bet I'm staying away (smile). I'm going on April 13th to be evaluated for a kidney transplant, though. Pray they can get me one. Hubby, possibly my son, and two friends have offered. I won't let my son go unless his wife approves.

Wow. Best of luck to you. I hope it turns out well, and you can find a solution to this. I'm sure it's no fun for you. Make sure you keep Freeping us and let us know if we can help you at all. There's GOT to be a kidney out there somewhere with your name on it! ((Mary))

I knew I'd catch some flack over that, and rightly so. Yes, I was being a bit "over the top."

But I still refuse to accept that America just has to "roll over" and take this lying down. It's very frustrating.

Then how come a criminal that has been sentenced to death and is about to be injected, (and that was determined by the court and the state) yet the governor can phone and save his life. It's already happened hundreds of times before. So don't say they don't have the power.

I heard his rant driving back to St. Pete from Gainesville.

When he said, "I don't care about conservatism" in relating his feelings to a caller who reminded him that conservative principals usually condemned the Federal Government getting involved in state laws and individual rights, I was shocked. Even though death is often tragic, it is always inevitable. People die...principals do not. We have young men in Iraq dying today for a principal. If keeping a body alive as long as as we scientifically can is the capstone of our principals today, then we denigrate the sacrifice of everyone who gave their life to defend American principals of self determination and freedom as codified in our rule of law.

Rush, like many here would ignore the rule of law to save what he perceives to be the death of one innocent.

Mrs Schaivo has had her wishes litigated in every court of law we have. Whether or not some people agree or like it, her wishs have been determined. There are children in the Sudan who this very day will starve to death...where's the outrage from Christians over them starving. We know for a fact they would not choose to die. Is denying food to these starving people in the Sudan and the Congo when we have the means to feed them and don't, murder by omission...?

Most people say they would make the same choice Mrs Schiavo made...If we bulldog congress enough maybe we can get such people ruled suicidal...Then we could build monuments to the fact that we value life...above liberty.

"I know not what course others may take"?

Rush has been the perfect voice this week to articulate what has needed to be said. His position is mine, though he has better control of his emotions than I've managed.

And his point about the Judicial branch being a part of the Federal Government was perhaps THE best point I've heard, saving the question of WHY people passionately want an innocent woman to die.

Thanks, Diana. I'm really doing very well. I feel better than I have in years but hate being attached to a machine three days a week. But, hey, it's saving my life. I hope the kidney with my name on it comes fairly soon, though. Mxxx
